well obviously the trick to selling systems is make bad games!!!!! All right Sony, cancel FF13, GT5, GTA4, KZ2, LBP. We don't need ya!!!!!

A couple of points since I use metacritic/gamerankings to prove points more than most people:

A lot of those 151 games for 360 that are 75% and higher are multiplat games that were also on PS2, such as all sports games the year before PS3 and Wii were out. That does not take away from 2007 in which the 360 definitely had more highly-ranked games than either PS3 or Wii, but it does drop the number a little. I'd like to see the number with PS2 games taken out, as well as games that already have sequels such as Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 1 (AW2 is on PS3, but who is going to play the first 1 now when the 2nd is better?).

Also, the average for the top 20 games is far higher for 360 and PS3 than it is on the Wii. Games that wouldn't make the list on the PS3 top 20 could be in the top 10 for Wii. The 360's average is even higher, although again, some older games are included.

One last thing: some of the Wii's top 20 are also on PS2, such as RE4 and Okami.. Those essentially count as PS3 games if you want to get picky (if you have BC like I do). Also, some are on GC, such as Twilight Princess. One could just as easily count God of War 2 for PS3. Obviously, the controls on Wii could be preferable (at least for RE4), but the games were still highly rated on last gen systems.

It doesn't really matter how many crap games are on a console, as long as you don't buy them personally, as long as you get top-end games. Right now PS3 has the least of the tip top ones, but that's clearly going to change. GTA IV will be another 90+ for both PS3 and 360. MGS4 will be a 90+ for PS3. The thing that strikes me about Wii ones is that they have some good games, but they are all first party. I still will never understand why someone can't make a first-party-like game for the Wii to capitalize on the install base. I realize shovelware can be profitable, but it seems like SOMEBODY could do it...

It takes too much money, time, and effort to figure out the PS3 hardware and make a wack game on it (except Lair). On the other side of things *sees Wii box, eyes widen*

"tip top" is funny. The difference between the Wii's top games and the PS3's top games is that I enjoyed the PS3's more. CoD4, Oblivion, and Rock Band are all above 90% and are among the best games in their genre ever (especially Rock Band). Not only that, the Wii only has a few more 90+ games and RE4 is a PS2 port (because the GC version doesn't have all of what the PS2 version does, and the Wii version only added a control option). At #6, the 2 systems tie at 88%, but the Wii game is...Okami...another PS2 port. After that the PS3 wins at every single game in the top 20 and the games are all unique. I don't know how one can objectively, using game rankings, say that the Wii lineup is better than the PS3 right now. Obviously, subjectively it depends on what games you like, but after the first couple of Wii games (all single player except Brawl), the PS3 wins every battle. Edit: The reason they tie at the #6 spot at 88% is because the PS3 also has 89% rated Orange Box and Ratchet. So at 89%+, the Wii and PS3 have 5 games each. The average of those is higher on Wii, but the quality of games is arguable. We all have our personal tastes, but one could easily enjoy Oblivion more than TP, Ratchet more than Galaxy, Rock Band more than Brawl, Orange Box more than MP3, and CoD4 more than RE4. Having played all but TP, that's how I would choose, except perhaps Galaxy over Ratchet although it's close for me. Anyway, after the top 6, the PS3 wins at every game as far as ratings average. You don't need to include shovelware into the arguement at all.

Right, MS fans want to use raw numbers to take advantage of the fact that 360 has been out for an additional year.  And PS3 fans want to point out higher average reviews denoting quality of library as a whole.

And lots of the biggest guns are still to come for PS3. 

RE4 is kind of a hybrid port. It has all the content of the PS2 version, but adds the superior graphics of the GC version.

I don't think GC and PS2 games should be counted for their successor anymore than Xbox games should be counted for the 360. If the game is re-released somehow then it becomes a part of the line-up again, but until then there is going to be a very large gap in how aware people are of the game and how available it is. The GC is the absolute closest to being able to claim it, but still is miles off from being accurate.
