A little off topic but, is there something wrong today, did psrock have a revalation today? I could have swore last week most of your posts were bashing the Wii. Now all I've read today is nothing but praise.

You know it is possible to be a fanboy of one system and see what the other is doing to your media in a positive light. GC fanboys had it bad because people would be like where is the PS2 and of course the lack of games.

Nintendo took a diffirent path that has allowed some growth in the HD gaming department but also allowed for their system to launchinto the stratosphere. A bridge if you will that will let previous non gamers be more excepting of the hardcore ones. Its funny this seems to happen every second generation

WII-?25 million now most likely 44-50 by the end of the year but will allow for a 40 million second place console and bring in new people as well as old

The market was dieing with the SNES/GEN era, Sony brought it back to life.

Wii is just doing what PS2 started, making gaming accesable to a bigger audieance and breaking previos barriers.

Higher revenue then hollywood, all wiis doing, nothing but your foolish opinion maybe post some proof if your gonna cliam such things.

In the long run wii is very insignificant to gamers, given wiis status as a console of choice for soccer moms women and old people like you said we can expect no serious games other then 3/4 a year from nintnedo.

Wii is more likely to out sale the PS2 but to be "bigger" depending what this means to some it wont happen. Wii will never come close to the kick ass library the PS2 got.

It wasn't dieing during the SNES generation in fact there was growth. More consoles were sold and a ton of games were sold during that era. Nintendo lost Market share that gen but Sega made its real name then as well.

Sony energized the european countries to console gaming and capitilized on Segas work(sega started to grow in europe as well). With great marketing and by moving forward with the initial CD32 project that nintendo contracted them for.

The market was dead by the time the NES entered fray so much so that in order for them to sell it in the US they had to create Robot to market it as a toy because stores did not want to sell gaming sysems.

::laugh:: Uhm, no. The gaming market DIED after Atari 2600, and the NES brought it back from out of the gaming depression.

The wii is better for revenue of games and maybe for getting such casuals involved as you named.

but for quality of games, the wii is hurting quality. The wii has about 10 shovelware games per good game. I think developers will worry more about just getting a decent game on the wii to make a quick buck...rather than put time and effort into a really good game. They don't care how good the games are quality wise, they just want to make money however possible...and on the wii its possible to make money on a shovelware game (cough cough *carnival games*).

I think the PS3 and 360 developers worry more about good games. They realize that although good games cost more to make, they sell more and make you more money.
