Pretty amazing number for the PS3 with close to 30% of the user base pre-ordering. Hopefully it will translate into some PS3 hardware sales too ;)


 They are also huge numbers, the question is what will others contribute in comparison and how much will these numbers rise

Honestly, there are always reports of the PS3 version outselling the 360 version in preorder sales and yet the 360 version always wins on release.

You read it correctly, and I was asking myself the same question. Although I do not grant amazon.de any significance regarding the overall German market, 2:1 seems realistic to me.

Not really.  Notice how he highlighted the entire sentence "largest specialty games retailer in the country?"

EB said that the sales are almost neck and neck.  However JB Hi-Fi (and it's subsidiaries), which I believe is the largest games retailer in the country (note that the difference is it's not a specialist, with the word specialty being the only one MikeB should have highlighted), has not made a report so far.  JB Hi-Fi, more than any other retailer, is prominantly displaying Microsoft specific GTAIV posters discussing Xbox 360 exclusive DLC.

Seems like a pretty big retailer for Australia as well.

A quick word on gametralers.  Though being from Europe you couldn't be expected to know this, the vast majority of the stores listed on that page are in Australia's rural and regional areas, not metropolitan areas where sales (not to mention internet speeds) are far higher.

is there a bigger fan boy than starcraft? It will be interesting to see how this game plays out, no matter what it is something of a win for MS because the were able to make GTAIV multiplat and have at least half the sales...

I can support Starcrafts assertion that JBHIFI is advertising the 360 version far more. I live in Sydney and I've been to several of their stores and all of them show the 360 version more prominently. Even the ones that are equal mention the DLC, so even the more equitable instore advertising is bias towards the 360. Not to mention the much larger space dedicated to the 360 in all of their stores I've been to (this in including the big ones in the city). I'm pretty sure its a safe bet that the 360 version will outsell the ps3 version in JBHIFI.

 Shit is this for real? I didn't pre order my copy of GTA4 and with numbers like these, I doubt I'll be able to find a copy the first week....
