Last edited by Ryuu96 - on 15 May 2023The EC is doing Microsoft's work for them in making CMA look irrational.
EC has by far been the most quiet throughout all of this but more than willing to publicly defend themselves and call out bullshit (like FTC's claim that Microsoft lied to EC) and better yet because of how thorough they are, they have actual data and facts to back themselves up, not crystal balls.
The Didact returns in HALO: EPITAPH!

After his climactic confrontation with the Master Chief, the Didact is cast into the Domain where the final fate of this legendary figure awaits...
Coming January 2, 2024.

Pain.
Book will be great since it's Kelly Gay but I remember when we speculated Didact would return in a videogame or Chief would find Mendicant Bias.
Didact is finding him in a book. 🥲

Considering "final fate" I wonder if they are going to just kill him off because it would be too much to explain him returning in the videogames.

They need to stop with all this shit. Either write your books about characters that don't appear in the games, or use them to tell complimentary stories that enhance existing COMPLETE storylines from the games, by adding interesting new details or backstories. I don't wanna see how a character as major as the Didact, that you unceremoniously disposed of in Halo 4, goes through various more fucking arcs in books and comics and shit, and none of it ever plays out on screen. TELL ME THE STORIES IN THE GAME. REMEMBER? THE GAME?! The reason anyone even cares about Halo to begin with? I swear this shit just makes me mad. The more you make your audience feel left out because they're not up to date with your various other content, the less they'll be invested in the story of the games.

Agreed!
But I think this may actually be why they're doing this with Didact. They've done so much with him since Halo 4, he somehow survived, landed on a Halo Ring, slaughtered Black Team, fought Blue Team, almost killed Chief, got a Composer dropped on him and is now 'digitized' inside of the Domain and doesn't even have a physical form anymore.
Finally being connected to the Domain again might chill him out too as was the original plan by The Librarian.
So like I said, I think 343 might just be cutting him loose, wrapping it up and finishing his story, because if he comes back in a videogame it will be a lot like your complaint, a ton of videogame only players won't have a clue how he's still alive, or why he no longer has a physical form, or understand any references to his fight with Chief, without a very lengthy explanation why might still confuse and annoy people.
The whole Escalation series shouldn't have happened. They should have just had him in Halo 5 as having survived the fall in Halo 4 using the same explanation as Escalation that it teleported him to some random ass planet and he was stuck there, a simple and easy to understand explanation but they gave him an entire arc in the Escalation series getting up to all sorts.
It sucks because I love Didact and I really don't want this to be the end of him but I don't know now how they fit him into the videogames again without causing confusion and annoyance. I wanted to see him as the villain again but also wanted his 'redemption' arc (as much as you can redeem a mass murdering, "greater good" military lunatic, Lol).

My biggest gripe with 343 is this garbage, having important events happening outside of the games. I will never forgive them for not giving us a Blue Team reunion in game despite the fact that fans have wanted that event to happen for years and the start of Halo 5 they are just together on a mission with zero explanation in game and then in Infinite they literally skip over they ENTIRE set up of Halo 5.
Seriously how hard is it to give us spinoff campaigns like ODST?
343 truly does suck sometimes. "Let's axe our entire singleplayer division so that we can't even make a singleplayer spinoff game without outsourcing it to a 2nd party studio, and then let's put major story beats into books moving forward!"
