I trust Tom Henderson's reporting a heck of alot more than Jez's these days, lol. Way better track record on Tom, Jez didn't even know that the Brass Lion Wu Tang Clan RPG was no longer Xbox published until we all learned that it was no longer Xbox published on the Keighley Summer Games Show, after he was the one that originally leaked the Xbox 2nd party deal.

How the fuck do they still have 40 projects in active development.

Them saying this doesn't mean shit when they'll cancel a bunch every time Satya wants to drive the stock up some more, another 5 cancelled next year, then the year after, oh Satya wants to fund AI some more, another 5 cancellations!

CoD 2025, CoD 2026, CoD 2027, CoD 2028, etc.

GhostHope doesn't know shit, it's an educated guess and a pretty obvious one at that.

But Phil needs to resign NOW and he needs to fire Matt Booty on his way out. This leaderships team has entered toxic levels and they won't be able to show their faces anywhere without people (rightfully so) raging at them, there is absolutely going to be digs thrown at Phil at the upcoming The Game Awards for the layoffs, it's a pure embarrassment all round on Xbox's leadership.

Oh god no, we don’t want you. You’re going down with the ship son even if I gotta puncture your life jacket.

Switch to PS would purely be out of laziness to not have to deal with PC Gaming's complexities and liking Consoles "Plug and Play"

All I ultimately want is a platform to play videogames though, and PC has everything I want, Microsoft has pissed me off out of their ecosystem and I'm pretty sure Sony would do the same eventually so switching to them would probably be a bad idea. I'm just really fucking lazy and honestly a bit scared about switching to PC Gaming, Lmao.

Man if Steam did the whole Steam Box 2 but made it in house 💦💦💦

Henderson isn't the source. GhostHope is.

40 really isn't that many between 1st and 2nd party, I can count like 30+ teams we know about just within their 1st party studios. Add on the fact that each of the 3 CoD teams likely has their next, next CoD in pre-production even before the next releases in order to keep up yearly releases, and you're looking at 6 CoD games in development at any one time. Then add on 2nd party publishing deals from Xbox Global Publishing.

But yeah, just looking at how many of their in-development games from 4 or so years ago ended up cancelled, probably only 30 of these 40+ games will see the light of day, maybe not even that many.

Phil is for sure to blame for the failure of the Xbox Series and should personally be held accountable for every studio closure and cancelled project. Guy straight sailed his ship off a cliff BUT that said …. I can’t imagine Bond or god fucking forbid Booty will do a better job.

Yeah, future seems pretty bleak for Xbox honestly. No matter which of the two between Bond or Booty ends up succeeding Spencer, I can't say I have a very good opinion of either of them, and there are no other candidates likely under consideration for the job. Meanwhile their 1st and 2nd party seems to be coagulating around sequels to their most successful AAA games and GaaS, so little hope of seeing interesting new IP. There are rumors they don't plan to subsidize any of the costs on their next-gen PC consoles hybrid systems, so any PC-console with decent specs will end up running us at least $800 with no subsidization.

Anyone get the sense that Phil is desperately trying to cling onto leadership to try to go out on some sort of high after completely destroying his reputation? I see no reason why he can't leave now and take all the hits with him so someone less hated can take over, I straight up don't think Sarah needs help from Phil, I remember this interview once from Sarah.

"At first, Bond’s and Spencer’s personal styles clashed, and the two sought out Microsoft human resources chief Kathleen Hogan for coaching, an unusual step that Hogan found admirable. Bond recalls Spencer and others at Microsoft telling her that her tendency to “push the envelope” and “not let something go” was new to them. She says she found that Spencer’s communication style sometimes left her unsure of what he actually wanted from her. At one point, she stuck a Post-It note to her computer with some advice about interacting with him. “I’m not being paid to do what he says,” it read. “I’m being paid to do what he meant."

Comes across like Phil isn't even a very good communicator and quite frankly I don't think Sarah needs babying.

It's a real shame it has came to this though, Phil did objectively save Xbox from being shutdown, then he restored Xbox's 1st party to the highest heights ever, then he introduced Game Pass which is fucking amazing value still, the Xbox Series X was a brilliant piece of technology, the Xbox Series S was a smart idea but not executed fully correct (RAM should have been the same). 1st Party has been on fire for the past 1+ year and so many other things, but now he has burnt it all down and he will be remembered not for any of that but for being some butcher of Xbox.

And that's why I wonder if Phil waiting to leave for next gen is more of a personal decision of him wanting to restore his reputation but I will say still it's time for him to leave, I don't know how he can show his face during TGAs or Xbox's 25th anniversary celebrations after being involved in all these layoffs.
