PlayStation 5 dollar sales declined 5% in April compared to a year ago, but the platform once again led the hardware market in both dollar and unit sales. Switch hardware spending fell 37% in April vs YA, while Xbox Series grew 8%.

+8% Oh I'm Thinking #WeBack.

Lmfao. Jk Chill Xbots.

Yes on XBS being 2nd in both units and dollars.

So looking at ASPs it doesn't appear that the price increase had been fully executed at the retail level by end of w/e 5.3. Units increased compared to prior week. Impact won't be known for a few more weeks.

I figured on the ASP since online retailers took a few days to populate the new price editions. Walmart didn't hike prices until a few days into May tracking.

Unit increase I also noticed with online retailers, but in the weeks since it seems like Xbox settled down to where it would be anyway?

Pretty much. Not noticing any huge swings as of yet. But it's very early in the change so we'll see.

More MS published games on the Playstation top 10 sales list than on the XBox list. What a time to be alive

Switch: SW-3707-5131-3911
XBox: Kenjabish

Looking at Mat's Subscription Spending.

Back in September 2024 he reported that subscription spending had been "flat to low single-digit growth for quite some time now" and then October 2024 was Call of Duty's inclusion into Game Pass, since then here is how "Non-Mobile Subscription Spending" has looked.

  • October - 16% Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend
  • November - 8% Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend
  • December - 11% Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend
  • January - 13% Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend
  • February - 9% YoY Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend
  • March - 11% YoY Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend
  • April - 18% YoY Growth in Non-Mobile Subscription Spend

Obviously there have been price increases, and it can't all be contributed to Game Pass, but I would reckon quite a lot of it is due to Game Pass considering it was flat-low before Call of Duty and then these recent months of banger Game Pass line-ups have probably helped keep the new subscribers around and brought in even more newbies plus Game Pass PC seems to have grown quite a bit lately.

Calir Obscure: Expedition 33 had a great US launch. It ranked 19th in April MAU on Xbox and 21st on Steam (Circana Player Engagement Tracker). It also placed among the top 35 sellers of April overall and top 25 on PlayStation (Circana Retail Tracking Service, physical only).

It launched Apr 24th.

this is where someone says “it launched on GamePass and was still a sales success”

Cue the next "In spite of it launching on..." like it's 2018.

Forza Horizon 6 is going to be absolutely massive multiplatform...

Over 40m+ players, it's still charting top 40s in sales 4 years after release, it shoots up to 13th best seller with a 4 year old port to a single platform, Game Pass will be at like 30-40m subscribers. The servers are going to burn to the ground. It's going to be one of Xbox's biggest launches ever, if it's set in Japan as well it will probably be the most hyped Forza Horizon by a large margin.

Xbox's biggest launch of this gen? 🤔

It was at 34m a little over a year ago now, before CoD and the consistent releases they've been having. I wouldn't be surprised if it's over 40m by the time FH6 releases. Especially with how consistent the likes of PC Game Pass has been rapidly growing every quarter.

Lol I fucking forgot about Call of Duty. Okay, Xbox's 2nd biggest launch of the gen.

Been a great day, an amazing Game Pass drop, a great Circana for Xbox low-key and now onto the showcase. It has been the best year of Game Pass ever and this is easily the best 30 day run ever, I think 2nd would be the month of Forza Horizon 5/Halo Infinite but Oblivion Remastered, Expedition 33, Metaphor and the other little goodies exceed it Imo.

Now excuse me, I have to fucking finish Oblivion 😭

Give me showcase. Fuck off leakers.

Edit - Lmfao, I forgot to include Doom, yeah it blows November out the water.
