I used to get discs but then Game Pass happened and around that time I stopped collecting discs entirely, I saw no point in buying Xbox 1st party when it was coming to Game Pass and that had a knock on effect on everything else, if I wasn't going to collect Xbox 1st Party then I would see my "collection" as incomplete and then I started seeing my physical copies as useless clutter, Lol. This then caused me to stop buying physical on Switch too, and then I started buying 3rd parties digitally on Xbox as well as I started to see digital as less hassle.

I was never that huge into physical to begin with though, I may be naïve but I really don't give a fuck that I don't "own" it and they could take it away from me at any point, I have never been in a situation where that has happened to me, where I've wanted to replay a game but couldn't, but that is also because I rarely replay games to begin with, once I'm done with something I'm largely done with it and never return to it, Lol. But even if something did vanish from my library I would still have the memories, so again I don't fear it that much, Lol.

I've dumped almost all my physical library, I had maybe 40+ Xbox One physical copies and sold them all and my smaller Switch collection, I still have some Xbox 360/Wii stuff but I've just not got around to dumping that, not like I'd get much for most of it, Lol. Though I will keep the "rarer" ones like Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn.

But it's the market speaking Tbh. PC is already essentially 99.9% digital and nobody cares about physical there, Xbox is 91% digital, PlayStation is a majority as well, I would say I think it feels a bit forced by publishers with Switch 2 as I don't believe digital is a majority on Switch yet but it will eventually get there whether forced or not. Physical will become a niche thing kept alive by companies like Limited Run Games for those who still want a physical copy but the market is moving towards digital, I think older gamers are being replaced by gamers who frankly don't seem to care about physical at all or only play a few games a year, or are focused on F2P/GaaS titles and have grown up with stuff like Netflix so are used to it.

Yep, I have rebought almost all of the physical titles I had digitally (for far cheaper lol).

For my Xbox library, I dont have a single physical title out of the 600+ titles I have across all the Xbox gens.

For PS5, I only have FFXVI physically which was the last physical title I bought which was 2023.

And for Switch 2 - I dont plan to buy anything physical.

And ya I'm not worried about ownership/etc as well. Its not like the full game is on discs/cartridges these days.

For movies and TV shows, I'm 100% digital too, only subbed to streaming and I've never owned a blu-ray player or any blu-ray discs

Same here, I have EVERYTHING digital. Since Steam came out basically :)

As soon as games became available digitally on Xbox 360 I started to buy them online. The convenience it brings is just way better than having the physical copies.

The fearmongering about the fact that you do not own the game is ridiculous today. The 0.0000000001% of the time I could not start my game for some technical reason (usually did not last for more than a few minutes) is nothing compared to the disk being scratched, the battery for the cartridge being dead, the optical reader of the console being dead, etc.

Digital is just the way to go:

- Less plastic/garbage...
- No need to worry about losing anything or having your physical media broken or scratched.
- One thing that people forget about: emulation. Games can be emulated on newer systems without the need to read the media if you have the digital version of it (Nintendo is doing it, Microsoft is doing it, and Sony is doing it).

Without those games being available (or dumped) digitally, emulation would not be possible unless you got a compatible reader for that game media.

Just started the shivering isles last night. God damn what a gorgeous entry! Ready to re-experience one of the best DLCs ever! While a lot of this game is of its time, there's still so much that hasn't aged a day.

I just stumbled upon the suicide troll, now I'm going to spend the next 10 minutes hauling his ass out the river and giving him a proper burial 🫡

Context:

There's a bottle of beer on him and a suicide note. 😭

20 years.....god damn! I only watched this on a rerun like a week or two later, but the hype level was insane!

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Omfg the first time Adoring Fan genuinely pissed me off was trying to give a proper burial to a fucking troll, started out as a joke but the twat kept getting in my way, I was close to killing him on my good character but then remembered I can just tell him to stay still.

Gave the fella a proper memorial, the world will think he died in battle, with a copy of "Warrior", "King" and "The Lusty Argonian Maid" 🫡

I really should wrap up Oblivion, Doom is right around the corner, but I think I still have a couple dozen hours of content left, Lol.
