It seems like South of Midnight will end up being the second worst-performing Xbox game on Steam, with only Battletoads below it. I guess now we have to wait to see if this is one of those games that everybody just decide to play on Gamepass.

What even is South of Midnight? Not seen any marketing for it and the cover is bland and says nothing about the game. Not shitting on it. I don't know what it is. Only recently saw people talk about it here, and only the other day noticed a banner for it in the Xbox store while checking my wishlist for sales. Might be why. Poor marketing.

Story - Think modernized adventure tale with Bayou/Voodoo folklore.
Gameplay - Basically a factory-made action-platformer mix.

Obsidian are such a fab studio, Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 in the same year.
Well, on the plus side, the gameplay looks good, but the graphics seem to need work (pretty low-res textures on some things, and lots of aliasing especially on the X-ray vision scanner mode) and I'm seeing alot of frame drops and screen tear. Won't be surprised at all if Outer Worlds 2 ends up pushed to 2026, this doesn't really look to me like a game that will be ready to release in less than 8 months, unless this is a pretty old build from months ago that IGN got to play and they've been embargoed for awhile. The Summer Showcase deep dive should give us a better look at how development is progressing.

Screen tearing aside, it looks fine, Imo, I'd say it looks great visually.
But I swear we have had these conversations for about a dozen titles at this point, Lol. As always, they all make huge jumps in the final months of development because graphics and performance are always the last things worked on, if the game is content complete then 6+ months is more than enough time to make large jumps when we've seen games make large jumps in only 3 months before.
Plus I feel like we had this exact same conversation about Avowed a few months before release
