The only serious comment I’ll make is this. The one thing that’ll annoy me being a multi platform user is I would have made more of a financial commitment to Xbox this gen than anytime since the early Xbox 360 days. Put far more energy into Xbox in the last couple of years than ever before and built up a nice account since November 2019 (144,447GS, 127 games, 92% completion) and whilst I’ve had a lot of fun these years playing Xbox .. I would question if it was worth it in the end.

If they do go ahead and become a third party pub/dev (which ofc is still all rumours at this point) then I should have just spent that money, time an energy building up my PS digital library and working on my PSN account instead or even the new one I made a few months ago. But regardless MS have a lot of my favourite developers so I’ll happily support them if they come to PS5 and just not be a multiplatform user next gen. But I do get how some people who are far more invested in Xbox than I can feel more than anything …. Let down.

So I’ll wait and see what they do but for now back to Baldur’s Gate 3 ….. on PS5.

@Zippy6 Did that Discord leak mention February as the date too?

Cause if so, that Discord leak looks legit now, Lol.

I still can't wrap my head around how it makes financial sense for the manufacturers though. Basically treating Xbox like Windows, OEMs will build hardware while Xbox licenses the Xbox OS or the Windows OS? So we'll still have hardware but by multiple different OEMs, different types of hardware like handhelds. Still not sure where the money comes in from the OEM unless Xbox gives them a decent split of the store revenue.

But Steam Machines failed

The discord leak said late february. The verge is reporting now that originally they were going to announce it Kate February but the leaks over the past 24 hours have made them bring it forward to next week. So yes so far everything in that leaks seems accurate.

Apparently Tom Warren backed up the OEM claims in the private Xbox Era discord the day after Sony had their state of play, but I don't have access to that discord so I cannot say whether that is true for sure.

Here's that leak again. The Indiana Jones info was right, the kojima movie was right, the multiplatform end of Feb planned announcement was right before being brought forward by these leaks. (though they also said it could happen in march)

Yeah shockingly that Discord leak looks legit now.

...I still don't know how it makes sense for the OEM but seems like it's happening.

Would be interested in what sorts of devices we get...There's sort of a mini race into the handheld market right now from OEMs but they're all Windows based. Would these OEMs be using the Xbox OS?

Microsoft disrupting the industry once again, in another unforeseen way.

I wonder if they are considering on walking back at least some of the ports.

I mean it could be possible that the OEM stuff is just the handheld side, as an Xbox handheld has been rumoured lately. MS might not have wanted to develop handheld hardware themselves but wanted to get into that space. So they may have approached companies like Asus, MSI, Lenovo to make Xbox branded handhelds.

I am assuming the OEMs would still be using an Xbox console OS, whatever form that takes for next generation.

Following the backlash from hardcore Xbox fans? Maybe some of it. I still see them releasing most games first on Xbox/PC/Game Pass followed by PlayStation and/or Nintendo 6 months or a year later or however long they decide. I also see ALL Activision Blizzard games remaining multiplatform on all platforms they can run on.

Rather have them go full send instead of doing a halfassed attempt which leads to more confusion.

How would you guys feel if Microsoft launched their next console after the PS6 but it was a significantly higher spec console?

Who would be the best OEM to make Xbox hardware too? Lol.

I feel like either these devices will be uniquely catered to a specific market (I.E. Handheld) or they will either be expensive or Microsoft will be giving a large cut of their store revenue to the OEM.

I think if Xbox are going to release their games on PlayStation and if they are going to keep making Xbox Hardware (both seems to be the case) then differentiating their hardware from Sony's is the only way to have a real place in the market.

Giving the people the option of cheaper lower spec hardware and more expensive higher spec hardware. The only way I really see them offering something of value is to give people the power/price point they want if the PS6 doesn't.

Series S gets a lot of hate online but honestly, at least at the UK price point, I think it's a phenomenal piece of hardware. I loved mine.

I'm a bit intimidated by building my own PC and maintaining it so I think I'd be okay with a suped up Xbox console which did all that work for me, Lol.

My knowledge with PC is next to zero, my pal G2 today informed me that my display port wasn't actually plugged into my Nvidia Geforce GPU.

I've had this PC for 3 years...My GeForce GPU was inactive for 3 years...All this time plugged into the Intel GPU
