Honestly, I don't think Xbox is going to go after anymore publishers after this lol. It's been such a headache that idk if they feel it'll be worth it whether the ActiBlizz deal passes or not

They won't be allowed anyway, Lol. Not anyone above Ubisoft at least, Imo. If regulators are the reason then I still think they should plan a showcase for Jan/Feb, Starfield will carry the marketing for it, and by Jan/Feb, regulators will have basically made up their mind on what they're doing and if it's negative then there's nothing Microsoft can do except go to court.

They can't pause their business for a year, there's a point where no matter what you say/do, you aren't changing regulators mind, that is for CMA/EC going to be around January, when they make their final issues statements. So if it were me, I would plan a showcase either way. Still don't buy it though, feels like a bit of an excuse but maybe Microsoft's lawyers are being weirdos or regulators are being shit, just in case it is true, that is what I would do.

Phil definitely wasn't happy, Lol. Funny that this big scary company that FTC is stopping is now being absolutely trashed all over the entire and looks extremely poor compared to the competition, Lmao.

Keep seeing this pic floating around... wonder if Phil was mad

He definitely seemed less happy than usual, can't really blame him though, he must be going through 10 years of stress in 1 week Jez did say he heard Xbox might not show up and speculated it may be because of regulatory pressure, maybe it's true and Microsoft's lawyers have effectively muzzled Xbox but I still can't think why it makes sense.

The regulators already know about the games, are they that awful that it would severely impact the deal if Microsoft spoke a bit more about them? Lol.

Yeah, I bet he was pissed if he really did hold back game reveals because of the regulators. Imagine if he actually made the decision to hold back all game announces until after the regulators make their decisions thoughout early 2023, only to learn earlier the same day as the show that the FTC is suing to block the deal. Would mean that he held back games for no reason at all. He could have shown like 5 Xbox games (let's say Redfall, Starfield, Avowed, Contraband, and Belfry), and it wouldn't have changed a damn thing, FTC would still be suing them either way.

I just realized, quite a few June 2023 announcements tonight. Surely Redfall and Starfield should definitely release before that. Right? Right?!

Starfield May 5, 2023. That is Space Day and we know Todd loves his dates.

There is no way Redfall is getting delayed either Imo.

Something is definitely up but Idk what.

1. Shit Marketing.
2. Regulators.
3. Planned Event.

And I think if it's regulators, it likely isn't a Phil decision but Microsoft lawyers being overly cautious. We only have CMA left though Tbh...It'll be over soon, CMA doesn't approve and the deal is dead, CMA does approve and Microsoft can chill, I actually think if it were down to regulators, it likely has more to do with CMA than FTC because they know they can't beat CMA in court.

Maybe Xbox will hold a showcase in January or February giving us release date for Starfield, Redfall, and Forza Motorsport.

Disappointing the FTC chose to sue Microsoft over the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but it's whatever. Microsoft will likely win against FTC assuming the CMA doesn't block it.

That would only be a week before Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lol. If true, those 2 games will take up my summer lol

Those are also the 2 most likely games to compete for Game of the Year at The Game Awards next year.

Redfall should be Early April (which has no games announced right now), and Starfield May 5th, International Space Day, imo. Redfall has so little hype right now that it can't afford to release within 2 weeks of anything else that is AAA, which rules out all of Q1 as well as June, leaving only April and May, and Starfield should be May instead of Redfall to take advantage of International Space Day. April only has one AAA currently, Dead Island 2, and it is April 28th, which wouldn't affect Redfall much if it releases the 1st or 2nd week of April.
