Still don't buy the argument that they'd no market due to regulators.

  • They had a showcase already during the regulatory process.
  • Regulators already know their announced line-up and can easily make them tell them their unannounced line-up.

Even if it was because of regulators, then you just do a showcase in January when most regulators will have made their final thoughts. The deadlines may be March/April but January will give us an indication of whether they're blocking or not.

But I don't think it's regulators, it doesn't make sense to me. Microsoft can't be expected to essentially pause its business for regulators, Lol.

So I will hold hope of an X0 in January or February but if not then LOL Xbox's marketing is the worst in the industry.

It's really the only thing that fits. They've had multiple TGA announces several years in a row. Now, zero so far this show with the show almost over. And it's not like they have nothing to show, we know for a fact they do. Redfall, Ara, Starfield, and Forza are all supposedly 1st half 2023 releases. Meanwhile Avowed, Fable, Contraband, Hellblade 2, Project Mara, and Project Belfry have all been in development long enough that gameplay footage should be ready for all of them now. Xbox is just choosing to not reveal anything this year, even though TGA reveals have been successful for them in the past, with Perfect Dark and Hellblade 2 reveals in particularly building a ton of hype and getting a ton of views. Why would they choose to show nothing? It's the only thing that makes sense at this point. They are terrified that showing games will harm their chances with the regulators. Clearly Activision-Blizzard isn't though, they just showed Diablo 4 off.

But I can't think of a single sensible reason as to why that makes any sense.

If it was true, why did Xbox host a showcase in June? Regulators already know every single Xbox game announced, what difference does it make if Microsoft speaks more about them? What difference does it make whether they do it via Twitter or via a showcase? Regulators will still know. What difference does revealing some new IPs do? Especially since regulators already speak about Xbox's leaked IPs as if they are already announced things.

It also only makes sense if Xbox delays their entire early 2023 line-up to Holiday 2023 because it also makes no difference that they don't showcase a game if the game still releases in the regulatory period if this speculation was true. I'd be shocked if this was true because I can't think of any reason as to why it makes any difference to the regulatory procedure.

If it was true as well, Microsoft would delay stuff like Riot Games for Game Pass PC which will be a much bigger deal than speaking about half of their line-up. I don't buy it, either their marketing has reached no lows, absolutely awful lows, or they have something planned for Early 23 instead.

I have no idea why. Doesn't seem beneficial at all. But I can think of no other reason why they would choose to not benefit from the free marketing of revealing a game on a show watched by over 80m people, especially when their Perfect Dark and Hellblade 2 reveals went so well with the Game Awards. Even if they are doing their own show of some kind in early 2023, you still can at least announce 1 game here to benefit from the huge number of viewers the show gets. It's also a bad idea for them to snub Geoff Keighley, he is a huge name in the industry and has alot of pull, they already snub his Summer show because they do E3 shows instead. Why would you pull every single game from his Game Awards show to put them into an early 2023 XO event instead, terrible idea. Dude is already a bit of a Sony fanboy, why would you pull reveals from his show and make him dislike Xbox even more.

@VersusEvil no release date, but trailer dropped for Phantom Liberty featuring Idris Elba!!

If I'm betting, It's probably just Xbox's shitty marketing and they don't have a showcase for early 23, I'm hoping I'm wrong though.

But I doubt Geoff would give a shit either way, it ain't that serious, Lol.

I can breathe a sigh of relief that Armored Core isn’t PS exclusive.

Isn't it sad that worry is needed? Regulators don't think so.

It looked sick!!

Well, disappointing show overall. Not only did I disagree with many of the winners, as I always do, but the reveals were also pretty lackluster. Quite a few games I expected to be shown, including games we know have been in active development for 4 years or more, were no-shows, games like Bioshock 4 and Dragon Age 4, while 4 years or more in development Avowed, Contraband, Fable, and Project Belfry from Xbox were also all no-shows, in addition to all of Xbox's 1st half 2023 games being no-shows. Meanwhile most of what they did show doesn't interest me, games like Death Stranding 2. Highlights of the show were Namco Bandai's Blue Protocol MMO getting an Xbox port, Ken Levine's Judas, Immortals of Aveneum, the new Dontnod RPG, and the Jedi Survivor gameplay reveal.

Another mid show from TGA. Glad I chose not to watch. Only thing I heard of that I'm interested in is Hades 2 in terms of new announcements. This industry sucks.

Welp God of War is maidenless.

Haven't played GoW Rag, but idk looks very similar to the first game. Amazing set pieces and graphics, but idk that gameplay meh. Elden Ring deserved it. Never played a souls game, this was my first and damn what an amazing game. Congrats to Elden Ring.
