How long did Starfield take to deliver again? No I know it wasn't 20 years in the making...

We definitely shouldn't be having to wait this long for installments.

Been in active development since 2016. If ES6 drops in 2026 like MS said that's 15 years. These dev cycles aren't sustainable.

How do I tell Sarah our relationship was only for the achievement and I only care for Andreja?

Around 8 years but this was a new IP and a large revamp to the engine to account for that. Moving forward, as the foundation is already laid for these IPs and future updates to Creation Engine will be more iterative and not full blown revamps, we should see Elder Scrolls/Fallout on a 4-5 year development cycle which is fine but the complication is that Maryland handles all the core development of their projects so Elder Scrolls can't start development until Starfield is done, Fallout can't start development until Elder Scrolls is done, etc.

I'm not as hopeful as others that Todd is going to let Obsidian have another crack at Fallout, I also think they'll be some other potential questions with Obsidian doing a Fallout and I don't think Phil will force him, nor should he, but I hope they can have some conversations and Todd can let go a little for the fans benefit. My solution would be to move Fallout 76 fully over to Double Eleven and have Bethesda Austin staff up, take over Fallout and Todd Howard can Executive Produce, Austin can focus solely on Fallout, Maryland can focus on Starfield and Elder Scrolls.

It'd still be about 8 years between each Elder Scrolls/Starfield entry but it's at least an improvement on 12ish, Lol.

Todd Howard actually doesn't sound like he'll retire anytime soon, he said in a recent interview that retirement is weird to think about and it's a long, long way off. He said he wants to keep doing it forever and then mentioned 71 year old Miyamoto, Lol. Todd is 53. So sounds like we got another 18 years of Toddfather! That'll be another Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield.

Phil said Elder Scrolls is at least 5 years out in the trial, so that makes 2028. It was Microsoft's hired lawyer who said 2026 so in this case, she isn't actually a Microsoft employee and Phil's comment would be more accurate so Elder Scrolls VI is internally targeting 2028+

About 5 years is pretty much the average now for AAA development, especially for a large RPG. More if it's a new IP or reboot. But Elder Scrolls isn't, nor will Fallout (or Starfield) moving forward so we shouldn't have a Starfield development cycle. I don't personally believe the development time is the issue, it's that Maryland insists on developing it all alone, so nothing can move forward until Maryland is done with their current project.

And Elder Scrolls is VERY early in development because Starfield has only just came out, even then, a very large group of Maryland will be focused on Starfield post-launch support, bug fixing, updates, and expansions so we're unlikely to have Maryland move fully over to Elder Scrolls until I'd say around late 2024.

Lol it sucks we won't get an Elder Scrolls this generation. There has to be a remake in development at least. These long cycles arent doing them any favors in growing their IPs, probably why they are focusing on a Fallout show because the next one isn't coming out in the 2020s.

Now we just need an Elder Scrolls and Starfield TV Show.

People will lose their minds over Elder Scrolls VI...Going to be Starfield X100...From excitement to fanboy meltdowns.

Rockstar ain't doing much better in these development times and they have like triple the amount of employees as Bethesda does, Lol.

Also I forgot to say but those are amazing numbers for Starfield, I wonder why they didn't wait until after the weekend though, probably going to be 10m+ by then

You know whats also crazy is that Gen 7 there were 2 ES games, Gen 8 none, and Gen 9 probably none unless ES6 is crossgen. When was the last time a major franchise skipped two generations?
