Phil said Elder Scrolls is at least 5 years out in the trial, so that makes 2028. It was Microsoft's hired lawyer who said 2026 so in this case, she isn't actually a Microsoft employee and Phil's comment would be more accurate so Elder Scrolls VI is internally targeting 2028+

About 5 years is pretty much the average now for AAA development, especially for a large RPG. More if it's a new IP or reboot. But Elder Scrolls isn't, nor will Fallout (or Starfield) moving forward so we shouldn't have a Starfield development cycle. I don't personally believe the development time is the issue, it's that Maryland insists on developing it all alone, so nothing can move forward until Maryland is done with their current project.

And Elder Scrolls is VERY early in development because Starfield has only just came out, even then, a very large group of Maryland will be focused on Starfield post-launch support, bug fixing, updates, and expansions so we're unlikely to have Maryland move fully over to Elder Scrolls until I'd say around late 2024.

Lol it sucks we won't get an Elder Scrolls this generation. There has to be a remake in development at least. These long cycles arent doing them any favors in growing their IPs, probably why they are focusing on a Fallout show because the next one isn't coming out in the 2020s.

Now we just need an Elder Scrolls and Starfield TV Show.

People will lose their minds over Elder Scrolls VI...Going to be Starfield X100...From excitement to fanboy meltdowns.

Rockstar ain't doing much better in these development times and they have like triple the amount of employees as Bethesda does, Lol.
