Going back to watch the DF performance of Mass Effect Legendary I didn't realise there was actually quite a gap between PS5 and Series X, seemingly because the original code was primarily made for Xbox 360. The fact 120fps is console exclusive to Series X isn't a big deal in the general context but it's a pretty big draw for me.

Series X seems to conclusively have better support for high framerate modes if you have a VRR screen, yet I somehow know if it was PS5 only that supported 120fps instead I would've heard a lot more about it until now.

Edit: PS5 can't even lock to 60fps in it's 1440p performance mode for Mass Effect. Can only imagine the hell Xbox would've caught for that.

Idas post from this morning:

“On the other hand, the merger agreement clearly states the effects that the merger closing will have on ABK:

As a result of the merger, Activision Blizzard will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft and you will no longer own shares of Activision Blizzard common stock. Activision Blizzard expects to delist its common stock from Nasdaq as promptly as practicable after the effective time and deregister its common stock under the Exchange Act as promptly as practicable after such delisting. Thereafter, Activision Blizzard will no longer be a publicly traded company.

So, if they are starting the process I suppose that MS will close next week (or maybe even during the weekend) on every country where it's legally possible to do so (with the CMA's OK, would be my guess).”

Everything seems to be lining up for a Monday deal closure

Of course MS are gonna close the deal, did anyone really expect anything else at this point?

The UK CMA is, as ever, the wildcard. They absolutely still could attempt to scuttle this deal, but it does not appear they want to. ABK getting delisted of the NASDAQ is also the clearest sign ever we have gotten that a deal closure is imminent

I have a hard time believing that MS would have put their CAT trial on hold if they really felt that the CMA might just be fucking around some more. And even IF the CMA really did decide to get up to those kinds of games, I personally do believe that MS had decided already, that while they'd prefer not to, they'd be willing to close over the CMA if absolutely necessary.

The CMA only issued their block against Microsoft acquiring Activision-Blizzard AFTER their final decision was issued. Since they're saying they're opening up a fresh investigation, it makes me think, is that block now lifted? Because that block only comes after the final decision.

So it's possible Microsoft won't be going over any CMA block right now.

The wildcard is if FTC is granted their emergency stay, they have to be granted it before Friday, the odds are very slim of that happening, if it does then Microsoft can't close, if it doesn't then we'll see if Microsoft has came to an agreement with CMA to allow closure.

I have a feeling they have...

So, CMA and MS might have agreed to lift this block that's currently in place, however, they (CMA) will pursue a whole new case even after the deal closes? Is that correct?

If so, that's probably the smartest thing for the CMA, allows them to quietly (most likely IMO), just drop the whole thing in the future to avoid taking a public L; just let it fade away.

Only thing left to worry is an emergency block this Friday.

Looks like the FTC is not going to take that L just yet.

More like they think Ls look better in pairs
