If all that CMA achieves is managing to screw UK Gamers.
Smdh.
I can't think of any other way the deal could be "restructured" to please them, when UK has been offered all the same shit as EU/USA already.

Is the CMA about to screw UK gamers by accepting a proposal of no ABK titles in Game Pass or xCloud in UK? Lmao. |
IMO, MS gonna propose the same final remedies they proposed to the EU, and the CMA will now accept it, run a public victory lap and call it a day.

Lmao. Maybe.
Would look embarrassing to anyone who followed the case but I suppose most won't know so they could still paint that as a win.
It was a masterclass bait tactic by Microsoft, Lol.
FTC took the bait, got destroyed in court, now CMA is running straight back to Microsoft for "negotiations"
Next, the FTC insists Microsoft's offer is simply insufficient. In so arguing, it relies exclusively on PlayStation CEO Ryan's testimony. (Dkt. No. 291-2, FTC's Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law at pp. 159-160 ¶¶ 787-796.) The FTC's heavy reliance on Mr. Ryan's testimony is unpersuasive. Sony opposes the merger; its opposition is understandable. Before the merger Sony paid Activision for exclusive marketing rights that allowed Sony to market Call of Duty on PlayStation, but restricted Xbox's ability to do the same. (Dkt. No. 282, 6/22/23 Tr. (Bond) at 162:19-165:8.) After the merger, the combined firm presumably will not agree to such restrictions. Before the merger, a consumer wanting to play a Call of Duty console game had to buy a PlayStation or an Xbox. After the merger, consumers can utilize the cloud to play on the device of choice, including, it is intended, on the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps bad for Sony. But good for Call of Duty gamers and future gamers.

Based Corley.
I am so glad this all appears to be wrapping up, finally
Well thats certainly good news :)
Edit: Spongebob powerwash dlc felt underwhelming, it is like 3 vehicles and 3 locations and that's it.
I doubt anything will come of it, but even the Judge recognizes what Sony's doing with their market leader status.
There's a LONG redacted passage after a mention of Sony's use of market power when it does partial-exclusivity deals with 3rd-party game makers. Some of that may come back to haunt Sony for many years!

The EC once again shows that they're the best regulator 👀
The FTC is a complete joke, loss after loss, they had over a year to build up a case and presented a downright awful one.
CMA can't even stand by their decision, blocked it on stupid reasons, made a major maths mistake, bitched at EU for approving it but then immediately caved when FTC loses, Lol. They were definitely hoping that both EU and America would block the deal.
CMA/FTC got clowned, EC must be feeling pretty good about themselves right now, Lol.
Judge Corley showed a better understanding of the gaming market than both CMA and FTC combined. Props to her, she was awesome and completely on the ball during the trial.
Sidenote: She also considers Switch to be in the same market
