You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

We just got a bunch of concept art for Halo Studios' cancelled Halo Infinite follow-up, in their final Cannon Fodder blog, made before the news of layoffs and losing the Halo IP at the studio, and allowed to be released by the remaining developers at Halo Studios after the layoffs:

The Xalanyn, The Endless, freed by Atriox from Forerunner confinement at the end of Infinite, along with a Huragok, suggesting that the Endless, not the Forerunners as stated in earlier Halo lore, would have created the Huragok

Zeta Halo environment concepts created for Infinite and cut from the game that were going to go into the sequel according to Rebs Gaming's source:

^ Yeah thats going to far should be more grounded.

Asha on Project Helix: "We are moving to a family of devices for Gen-10. There is not one device that fits all. We will certainly have a great console first, but we also know that many players will be on the go. There are some things that we are the best in the world to manufacture, and there are other things that will we partner on. So, we will be sharing more about that as our plans develop. The operating system is starting to look really good. We're very excited about this."

This sounds an awful lot like we may be getting first-party reference devices along with third-party OEM's. Which is something I've LONG speculated would be the case. If there's one thing that MS has always struggled on when it comes to console gaming was hardware. They're not a hardware company like Sony or Nintendo.

I'm expecting the OS to be built on top of Windows as well. Doesn't make much sense to have separate teams working on a closed console OS along with a dedicated Xbox app on Windows. I wouldn't be surprised if Helix is announced alongside Windows 12 to showcase this merging.

Nice to hear that internal and partner OEM Helix hardware are still happening, hopefully we end up with a nice range of price point options on both. They have to have some kind of option out that isn't completely outdated in specs for like $700-800 tops, less than that probably isn't happening due to the RAM and SSD shortages caused by AI, but they need something somewhat affordable, they can't all be $1000+ like the high end internal Helix console that has leaked.

Nice to hear the OS for the next-gen Xbox is shaping up nicely, if earlier leaks about that OS were accurate, the OS will be so important for them next gen, one part console, one part windows, the ability to open a steam or epic store or GOG game from within the console OS without the need for the user to login to windows manually, just an automatic Windows kernel opening in a window when you hit A on a Steam game from the recent games menu in the console OS or from the overall game library.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told employees that Microsoft is getting ready to do something around Grand Theft Auto VI that “no other platform holder is doing” during an employee all-hands this morning. According to sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans, Xbox has managed to land a deal for the exclusive game streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI.

The deal will mean only Xbox Cloud Gaming can stream Grand Theft Auto VI to players at launch, but it’s not clear how long the agreement will be in place. Rockstar Games still hasn’t announced a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI, so this deal will allow Xbox to market its Xbox Cloud Gaming service to PC players who would otherwise need an Xbox Series X / S or PS5 console.

That was a smart grab, and probably reasonably affordable too since most of Xbox Cloud Gaming's top competitors like GeForce Now and Amazon Luna run on PC hardware, meaning they can't stream GTA 6 anyways until the PC port releases probably a year from now, so Xbox really only had to pay to keep it off of the most expensive Playstation Plus tier which has Cloud streaming.
