Forums - Sales Discussion - GameBoy Lifetime Sales Breakdown

That Pokémon and GBC combo was indeed something else. I knew the GB was on a decline in the mid-90s but not that the turnaround had been so remarkable. It probably doubled its lifetime sales.

It seems like the Wii wasn't a huge success in Japan

  • Interesting to see the SNES have a big resurgence in 95-96 in America. I'm guessing it had to do with the combination of DKC 1/2, Yoshi's Island, Killer Instinct, and bundles that often included these games. Note that this resurgence didn't happen in Japan.
  • Likewise, the N64 had a resurgence in America 99-00. That would be the price cut to $99, DK64, and especially Pokemon Snap/Stadium. Note again that Japan didn't have this.
  • It's always surprising to remember how long it took the DS to take off.
  • Interesting how the N64, GameCube, and Wii were so front-loaded in Japan.
