Forums - Sales - Famitsu sales: Week 16, 2022 - (11th Apr - 17th Apr)

I strongly believe that Xbox can sell 10K consoles each week consistently in Japan. I've seen too many Japanese inquiring and excited about Game Pass & Xbox on both Twitter and YouTube.

Kinda surprised that Triangle Strategy is still in the top 20.

Breath of the Wild hits 2 million physical copies sold . Even if it went back to being below the top 10, it's pretty still impressive that it returned there in the first place (prolly due to BotW 2's delay but still).

Elden Ring on PS4 leaves the top 10 too.

GTAV on PS5 only having 0-20% sold through...maybe the people are buying digital or something.

Digital-only doesn´t justify the abysmal physical sales. Ps4 and Switch have a good digital ratio and some games exceed 50%, but physical are strong too. If taken 50% digital ( it´s not the norm in the Japanese market), the number is bad yet. The Japanese market is constructed for a good physical performance ( the new games and used games)

The free game machine justification seems lame too, it´s a bad proposition buying a 500+ dollars machine for playing Fortnite, Apex and Kenshin impact only(games available on other consoles and PC), neither a game for console appears, nor a good legs, etc.

Gta5 ps5 digital released 1 month earlier and is $10 until June. Not sure how much the physical cost but I'm pretty sure it's not $10

My expectation for 2022 is that the Nintendo ecosystem will be up YoY whereas the PlayStation ecosystem will be down YoY once again.
The reasons are that I expect Nintendo first-party sales to be up YoY in 2022 thanks to the release of heavy hits (Pokemon Legends, Splatoon 3, Pokemon S/V, Switch Sports) which in turn should drive the overall Switch software market up meanwhile I expect the PS4 software market to keep sharply decline (-53% YoY in 2021) with PS5 unable to completely offset the loss.

Playstation fans can bury their head in the sand all they want, the current situation in Japan was years in the making and the future dynamics favour Nintendo.

Hoping for bigger 3rd party sales on switch
While it has gotten better the graphs show they have gotten lower ever since playstation lost as much interest

Well

My hope is that nintendo's next console is capable of running unreal engine 5 so the system can potentially get games like kingdom hearts 4, and if the system is as powerful as a steam deck/ps4 it would be bice to get final fantasy 7 remake, monster hunter world 2 dragon quest 12 as well as other games by sega, from software (if Sony hasn't bought them) level 5 ect

If the switch 2 can get the same amount of sucess as the switch and can run next gen games, we can put an end to the "games are skipping the switch because the system can't handle it" which will get more 3rd party games on the system that would otherwise miss it, thus increasing sales
