Any idea who this could have been?

Israel army ‘assisting UN forces in repelling attack’ in Syria

The Israeli army says its soldiers were assisting United Nations peacekeeping forces in the Syrian-controlled part of the Golan Heights in repelling an attack “by armed individuals”.

“A short while ago, an attack was carried out by armed individuals at a UN post in the Hader area in Syria,” the army said in a statement, referring to a town on the edge of the UN-patrolled buffer zone in the Golan Heights.

“The [Israeli army] is currently assisting the UN forces in repelling the attack.

Israel has shored up its troops in the occupied Golan Heights. I guess making sure the rebels don't get any ideas of liberating the Golan Heights now they have momentum.

And likely also in reaction the latest UNGA resolution on the Golan Heights 4 days ago.

Not quite sure, the Southern Front is compromised of multiple factions and they're largely in that location, they aren't part of the HTS but often allied with them, like the HTS they are enemies of all of Israel's enemies but this is the Golan Heights which Israel annexed from Syria a long time ago, it may be an attempt to reclaim it, I doubt it, I wouldn't pick a fight with Israel right now.

Israel only says "armed individuals" so it doesn't sound like a lot of people, considering how many factions there are and people running around with guns right now, it could just be a few armed individuals going wild on their own as I think the Southern Operations Room has been the more moderate group throughout the years, less religious extremists, more focused on unity.

HTS is about to take Homs from the looks of it.

But it doesn't even matter for Damascus because Free Syrian Army has already cut them off.

Meanwhile the Southern Operations Room are surrounding from the back.

Editing more in.

From 2012 to 2018, the eastern half of the Golan Heights became a scene of repeated battles between the Syrian Army, rebel factions of the Syrian opposition (including the United States-backed Southern Front) as well as various jihadist organizations such as al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant -affiliated Khalid ibn al-Walid Army. In July 2018, the Syrian government regained full control over the eastern Golan Heights.

It was probably just some Jihadists, may be why Israel is being careful in saying "armed individuals".

Alright, looks like Homs has completely fallen.

Rebel forces are celebrating on the streets in Homs. SAA has withdrawn, and gave up control over Homs.

Now end Assad's regime before he can worm his way out of it.

Am I going to wake up tomorrow and Damascus will be green?

Given this week’s events Assad's regime is finished & it’s a race to Damascus. The Russian position in Syria, and MENA region writ large is consequently in deep trouble, because of Syria’s importance as a logistics hub for Russian operations. Short thread. 1/

Russian operations in Libya, Africa, and further afield heavily depend on its its ability to maintain a logistical route via Syria, bot for maritime presence, and airlift via Khmeimim. John has a good post on this: behindthefront.substack.com/p/the-role-o... 10/

Russian ships deploy to Tartus on rotation. Since 2016 the base was expanded from a minor resupply point where larger surface combatants couldn’t even dock into a much larger resupply, and rearmament facility for ships and submarines. 11/

Khmeimim is an important lily pad base for Russian airlift into Libya, and other parts of MENA region. Libya, and other operations in Africa would be significantly affected without ready alternatives. Getting kicked out Syria will have wide reaching consequences for Moscow. 13/

My guess is that Moscow will see itself booted, one way another from Syria, forcing an evacuation or an agreed withdrawal. Either way, this would deal a major blow to its ability to maintain influence in the region, its perceived status as a power, and ability to support operations in MENA.

Rebels are already in the Presidential Palace now and Syrian soldiers in the center of Damascus change their clothes to civil ones so that they don't have to fight.

His brother has fucked off to the coastal towns, hmm.
