Forums - Politics Discussion - Russia and Ukraine flashpoint

Ukraine is not yet defeated. But Russia has already won the battle that matters most: with the West. Decision-makers in Washington DC, London, Berlin, and Brussels (to name just a few capitals) had the chance to counter Russian imperialism alongside a big, strong, determined country. They decided instead to drip-feed aid and soft-pedal sanctions, for fear of the risks of Russian defeat. Ukraine’s thousand days of sacrifice bought Europe time to rebuild its defenses. It wasted that too.

I can't beleive that i missed this.

Blinkov explains how russia recovered since the kursk offensive and has put more troops into the fight against ukraine.  This has helped them reverse things to a degree and take some territory from ukraine.

What a horrible day for Ukraine, Taiwan, Eastern Europe and many others. Too bad Americans ate Trump's shit and reelected someone who tried to take over the country after he lost last time.

Still can't believe that Americans are the ones who don't care about this

Sadly, I think its reached the point where Ukraine has to sue for peace (ie surrender) now. We know Trump will cut support and Europe doesn’t have the will or the way to support Ukraine on its own.

The only way for Ukraine to win now is for Europe to give a bit more, and for it to loosen the restrictions on the weapons that they give.  The only way.  We will see which way they want to go soon.

Praying that Russia won't win.

Sorry Ukraine

Tens of thousands dead for nothing, Europe couldn't get off its ass in time, now our so called "ally" has elected someone who is closer to Putin than us and will stab us in the back. We needed an EU army years ago, we need a proper enforceable EU defence pact similar to NATO. America is no longer a reliable ally to Europe. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure Europe preparing for this would result in throwing Ukraine under the bus while we increase our own defences. France was warning us for years and we didn't listen.

Don't know what else to say.

It's sick, it's basically rewarding a murdering, rapist, with a plot of land.

If Trump cuts Ukraine's support though then Putin has zero reason to accept their surrender on the current frontlines rather than just simply taking it all and Ukraine will likely be powerless to stop it...When has rewarding fascists with appeasement ever convinced them to stop...Sigh. At the end of the day though, it is not for us to decide, if Ukraine surrenders then it's their right as an independent country even if I think it will be a big mistake on a global scale, and likely end up with Zelenskyy thrown out of office.

But if Ukraine decides to still fight then I will continue to support them to the very end.
