Republicans elected a POS to House Speaker, one whom among other disgusting votes, has consistently voted against sending any further aid to Ukraine. We'll have to see what happens, might still be enough Republicans in House that support aid despite electing him as Speaker but we'll see. MAGA have taken over the Republican Party, fucking crazy that Moscow Mitch is somehow the voice of reason now on Ukraine aid.

I'd not be surprised if a Government shutdown happens as well. America may become an unreliable ally once again thanks to Republicans but again, we'll have to wait and see. Worst comes to worst there's still lend-lease which Biden doesn't need House approval for since it was already approved but straddling Ukraine with massive debt isn't ideal.

The White House has been quietly urging lawmakers in both parties to sell the war efforts abroad as a potential economic boom at home.

Aides have been distributing talking points to Democrats and Republicans who have been supportive of continued efforts to fund Ukraine’s resistance to make the case that doing so is good for American jobs, according to five White House aides and lawmakers familiar with the effort and granted anonymity to speak freely.

In a March 2022 Senate floor speech, McConnell (R-Ky.) warned that the defense industrial base had been caught “napping” as the Russian invasion entered its second month. In the early days, he repeatedly pushed Biden to use the Defense Production Act to ramp up weapons production.

And while some GOP support for Ukraine has eroded, the Senate minority leader took to the Sunday talk shows last weekend to push his Republicans against separating Israel’s cause from the war in Europe.

“No Americans are getting killed in Ukraine. We’re rebuilding our industrial base. The Ukrainians are destroying the army of one of our biggest rivals. I have a hard time finding anything wrong with that. I think it’s wonderful that they’re defending themselves,” he said on CBS’s Face the Nation.

France to boost Armenia's air defences with radars, missiles - minister | Reuters

Armenia sees no advantage in keeping Russian military bases -PM to WSJ | Reuters

Avdiivka Update (please note that the situation might have evolved by the time of your reading):

The situation remains difficult, with ongoing Russian pressure on both the flanks and the town of Avdiivka itself. While neither side holds complete control over the Waste Heap, Russian forces have managed to achieve access to it and can make occasional/temporary use of this position.

Russian forces have been heavily utilizing air-dropped bombs and guided air-dropped bombs, resulting in significant damage to structures within Avdiivka, including civilian infrastructure.

Satellite imagery shows a concentration of heavy artillery shelling to the north of Avdiivka, in close proximity to the heap, suggesting sustained pressure on defenders.

Here are the images for comparative analysis. The images are from October 15th and October 25th:

October 15

Despite Russian denials, mounting losses are becoming increasingly evident. These losses have been corroborated by drone footage, geolocation efforts by volunteers, and satellite imagery.

In this specific area to the west of Krasnohorivka, for instance, 16 Russian vehicles were destroyed, damaged, or abandoned.

To sum up, the duration of the enemy's intent and ability to sustain these high-pressure assaults remains uncertain, despite notable losses in personnel and equipment. Reports suggest a decrease in the number of vehicles employed in assaults, yet the persisting shelling and assaults raise concerns. Russians appear to be making small but incremental progress toward Stepove, even in the face of significant losses in vehicles and personnel.

This advancement could potentially create a dangerous situation, as a foothold in Stepove may enable them to sever the remaining logistical routes to Avdiivka.

While Ukraine has a good chance to repel Russian advances, it would be both unrealistic and naive to claim that the Russians capturing Stepove is an entirely impossible scenario. Ultimately, if the Russians are unable to achieve success, this operation could become one of their most costly campaigns in the second half of 2023.

Looks like Ukraine is itensifying the raids and trying to get some bridgehead established for future attacks.

This sounds like a smart idea if the terrain allows it by now; an attack there may very well force Russia to dispatch troops from the other fronts (and from the attack on Avdiivka) to halt the Ukrainian troops if they'd manage some kind of breakthrough in the region. Push the Russian troops far enough from the bridges for them to become out of range for conventional artillery, and an offensive over the Dniepr could start in earnest. But this is pure speculation and I want to see what the future developments are.

For now, it seems like Ukraine holds a small strip of land on the left bank and don't seem to fully retreat over the river anymore, defending and reinforcing this strip. This is probably also to probe the Russian response to an actual invasion from there, so if there's no meaningful response/counterattack, I'm sure Ukraine will try to recover more land as they can.

On another note, this also makes it impossible for Russia to rotate troops to that region to "rest" them, as the front wouldn't be quiet either.

Really confusing what is happening aside from Russians panicking.

Apparently there's Ukrainians rolling around with a mortar on the left bank 💀

The Russians are making it sound like some Ukrainians are just casually wondering around, Lol.

Gives a whole new dimension to drive-by shooting

Slovakia Swears In A New Cabinet Led By A Populist Ex-Premier Who Opposes Support for Ukraine | AP News

Slovakia support for Ukraine will likely be ending but with a few caveats to that statement.

They elected a salty motherfucker, Putin bootlicker who holds a grudge against Ukraine.

Why Slovakia’s Fico Hates Ukraine – POLITICO

But the former Slovakian government foresaw these events and sent Ukraine a ton of shit before they lost power so there's a question of if Slovakia even has anything worth left sending. The other caveat is the other commitments are business agreements which Fico would be stupid to interfere with.

Unlikely Hungary and Slovakia will become buddy buddy as well because Orban and his cronies can't keep their mouth shut in ranting that Slovakia is a breakaway territory of Hungary, Lol.

Meanwhile Russia seems insistent on pissing off Israel.

European countries like Slovakia now should sign an agreement not to get any military help If they need it if they argue that they don't want to help Ukraine because they aren't under attack. That would be something

How about Germany withholding their Leopard 2 and Lynx shipments to Hungary and Sweden their CV-90 shipments to Slovakia (but asking for full payment beforehand) since they obviously don't need new equipment...
