That's a lot of tanks...

Shame they aren't all Western MBTs.

The T-64 is a pretty good tank, superior to the T-72 and T-80 in most ways, it was just too advanced and thus too expensive to mass produce at the time. It's main drawback these days is that it's very cramped, reducing the vertical angling of the gun

VOLKEL AIR BASE, Netherlands June 12 (Reuters) - Ukrainian pilots could begin training to fly U.S.-manufacture F-16 fighter jets as soon as this summer, the Dutch defense minister has told Reuters, a first step toward supplying Kyiv with a powerful, long-term capability in its war with Russia.

NATO allies the Netherlands and Denmark are leading an international coalition to train pilots and support staff, maintain aircraft and ultimately supply F-16s to Ukraine. Previously, the Netherlands had said it aimed to start training Ukrainian pilots "as soon as possible", but had stopped short of specifying when such training could get under way.

"This summer is our ambition. And we'll see if that's realistic" for the start of the training programme, Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren told Reuters in an interview.

She said the aim would be to have the training programme fully operational within six months. Denmark, where there are flight simulators, is a possible location to host the program.

A final decision has not yet been taken on a request from Kyiv to supply dozens of F-16s, Ollongren said. The U.S.-backed training program will include Belgium and Luxembourg, while France and Britain have offered assistance, she said.

Luxembourg? Luxembourg and what air force?

For those who don't know all we have here as an air force is an A400M transporter - and that one is even shared with Belgium.

No decent human being will willingly go to Putin's funeral.

They'll go to the afterparty dancing all night.

I don't like dancing, so I'd just laugh at Putin's death, as long as he doesn't do what Hitler did and kill himself just to avoid the consequences of his defeat.

I feel terrible about this, but I haven't been following things.

How are things going overall?

Depends how far behind you are...

You can see the gains across the year here: Stats — War Mapper

At one point, Russia controlled about 25% of Ukraine at their peak (although 6.45% of that was already occupied Donbas/Crimea territories pre-war), then Russia collapsed in the North and had to retreat, then they were forced out of Kharkhiv, then they had to retreat from Kherson. Now Russia controls roughly 16.67% of Ukraine, 6.45% of that being occupied pre-war so 10.22% was claimed since this war began.

Ukraine for the past 6ish months have been preparing for a new counteroffensive aimed along the frontlines, they had to wait and hold the lines due to various factors, a lack of equipment, training new troops on new equipment and combat tactics, the weather, etc. They have a lot of that now and have begun the early stages of their next counteroffensive.

How that is going right now, I would describe it as slow and steady, it's too early to say whether it is a success or not, a counteroffensive will play out over weeks to months, due to how long Russia has had to build up defensive lines (in part, our fault), nevertheless Ukraine is making gains already and have yet to use the full force of their counteroffensive brigades.

Some have yet to show up on the battlefield and certain western equipment has yet to show its face, what Ukraine is doing right now is counteroffensives across the entire frontline and trying to find a weak point and then the assumption is when they find the weak point and break through, they will send in their held back brigades, they are also trying to bait Russia into sending its reserves out to the front.

It's a slow grind, until it's not, we'll have to have patience, Ukraine will lose a lot of equipment and troops in a counteroffensive though.

Wish we could give Ukraine better weapons and machinery to take out enemy forces.

Its a bit like Oliver Cromwell - deposed a king to become a king. The level of autocracy in the USSR meant the same applied to them - deposed a Tsar to become one in all but name. Putin just carries on the line, albeit under a different 'house'.

Hope it's true, I hope it was a Storm Shadow.

Kadyrov begging Ukraine for help.

Even if he lives, a scary thought for Russia and interesting thought for us, how did Ukraine know that such a high value target was at this location?

'Stop Yelling': Top Chechen Fighter Scolds Russia's Wagner Chief | Reuters

One of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's close allies on Thursday publicly criticised Russia's most prominent mercenary, casting Yevgeny Prigozhin as a blogger who yells all the time about problems, drawing a stern rebuke from a top Wagner fighter.

Addressing Prigozhin in a video message using the diminutive of "Zhenya" and the familiar Russian form of you ("ty"), Adam Delimkhanov, a close ally of Kadyrov, told Prigozhin:

"If you don't understand, then you can contact us and tell us the place and the time, I we will explain to you what you don't understand," Delimkhanov said of Prigozhin.

"You have become a blogger who screams and shouts off to the whole world about all the problems," Delimkhanov said. "Stop shouting, yelling and screaming."

The message drew a swift rebuke from one of Wagner's most senior fighters, Dmitry Utkin, a former special forces officer who served in Russian military intelligence.

"Where did such familiarity come from: who gave you the right to use the address 'ty' and 'Zhenya'?" Utkin said in a message which Prigozhin reposted on Telegram. "Certain citizens should be put against a wall for the SHAME that we have."

"We are always ready to talk man to man," Utkin said.

If I was Ukraine I'd leak that Prigozhin gave his coordinates up just to fuck with them more.

Kadyrov already doesn't like Prigozhin, sow some chaos.

At this point Russia would be better off, and I can't believe I'm saying this, without any government at all.
