"Ukrainian militants entered the territory of the region, regardless of their nationality. This is deeply worrying and requires a lot of effort from us. The special operation continues to prevent this from happening in the future. It is not planned to hold a special meeting of the Security Council, a planned one will take place towards the end of the week," he said.

How Russian Mothers See Their Sons.

Imagine your own mother not caring if you live or die because she has a backup son and she's going to get paid anyway...

What an unforeseen development, wonder what is the goal here.

  • Stoking more division in Russian leadership by displaying incompetence.
  • Stoking division in the Russian army trying to capitalize on abysmal morals and incite rebellion by way of showing it is possible.
  • Forcing Russia to relocate troops away from the battlefield.
  • Immediately put to trash any propaganda gain resulting from Bakhmut

The goal with the Russians attacking their own might be as simple as to wake up the silent majority in Russia who oppose Putin. If the can see how poorly organised the military and government are they may rise up.

All of the above. Probably.

They did an incursion and that's all they can do now, Its obvious this is all protracted out as some massive victory to hide the loss of Bakhmut. It's not going to change any outcome untill one side capitulates or peace deal is reached

Doubt it'd make Russia a decent neighbor let alone place to live though. People thought Russia was gonna be better off after Lenin took out the Romanovs, then they thought Russia would be better off after the Soviet Union collapsed, then they thought it'd be better off under Vladimir Putrid, but time and time again Russia has shown us that it just can't escape being terrible.
