Putin spoke first, Trump rolled out the red carpet for him, likely at the cost of millions, put on a huge show for Putin, clapped for Putin like an excited little boy, let Putin justify his war crimes on US soil to everyone in the room, let the internationally wanted war criminal dog walk the US President on American soil. Achieved no peace deal, no ceasefire. Putin once again avoided consequences.

The weakest America has looked in quite some time, definitely the weakest in my lifetime.

they probably had mixed feelings, because soldiers tend to vote republican, and they probably don't realize that trump is doing this because he is shady, and they may not realize that relations are thawing for the wrong reasons.  It must feel weird bowing like that to putin, must be awkward

America really loves Russia, I am almost surprised they didn't offer Russia military support for restoring the Union. By taking Ukraine and maybe the Baltics and Poland too.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Trump leaves Alaska summit with Putin empty-handed after failing to reach a deal to end Ukraine war

What this really means is that no deal was made, and that the United States will probably shut off aid again (seems different every month), and Russia won't have more sanctions levied against it. If Trump pick the right team and back that, then he really would look like a hero. That's the tragic/ironic reality that his evil ass can't get beyond.

I expected nothing but I am still disappointed.

American Soldiers Roll Out Red Carpet for Guy Who Tried to Kill Them

No Secondary Sanctions Except on India

Trump Says No Imminent Plans To Penalize China For Buying Russian Oil | Reuters

Before Meeting:

‼️ Trump: I won't be happy if I walk away without some form of a ceasefire.

After Meeting:

NEW: Trump on a Russia/Ukraine deal: “We didn’t get there…but we have a very good chance of getting there.”

— Lewis Goodall (@lewisgoodall.com) 16 August 2025 at 00:06

Thus, it appears Trump has dropped his earlier demand for an immediate ceasefire before peace talks—a position Ukraine had previously accepted—and now supports negotiations on a lasting peace while fighting continues, a stance the Kremlin has consistently pushed since the last Istanbul talks.

Russia Evades Consequences From Trump Again; Too Weak Trump Returns

🤔🇺🇸 Trump on sanctions against Russia:

"Well, because of what happened today, I don't think I need to think about it. Maybe I need to think about it in 2 or 3 weeks or something, but we don't need to think about it right now. I think, you know, the meeting went very well."

very shameful...trump seems like frosting on a turd because everybody thought that he was great during the election but now his rambling speech that turns into a word salad and gaffes are becoming more frequent. This is our leader?

Because Putin Stroked His Ego

Trump: I was very happy to hear him say if I was president that war would've never happened.

Trump: Vladimir said just a little while ago, I have never seen anybody do so much, so fast. He said your country is like hot as a pistol. And year ago he thought it was dead.

Fox News Reaction

Fox News Reporter Jacqui Heinrich: The way that it felt in the room was not good. It did not seem like things went well. And it seemed like Putin came in and steam rolled, got right into what he wanted to say and got his photo next to the president and then left

Fox News Calls It 'Really Stunning' That Putin Spoke First On US Soil

The Torygraph

The two leaders appeared on stage for just 12 minutes. There was no ceasefire and they did not take a single question.

"What the f--- was that?" one American journalist exclaimed. "Is that all?" Indeed, it was.

The first surprise of Mr Trump and Putin's post-summit press conference was that the Russian leader was the first to speak.

After the two men had taken their place behind their respective podiums, almost the entire room had their eyes fixed on Mr Trump, assuming that the US host would lead the conversation. So when Putin first opened his mouth, you could almost hear the sounds of heads whipping towards the Russian leader. Mr Trump eventually followed suit, and for the first time in his second term, spoke very briefly.

Security delays prompted outcry from some American journalists who were concerned that Russian reporters would get better seats at the briefing. "Can we make sure Americans are seated before the Russians?" one disgruntled journalist asked. "This is America, after all," another added.

Tonight, countless calories will be burned powering the brains of analysts and political commentators, and millions of keystrokes spent explaining what happened in Alaska. Yet sometimes, a simple diagram explains it better than a PhD thesis:

I nailed the Trump-Putin summit in advance, enough I'm not writing something new.

"It makes no sense as statecraft. Except Trump wasn’t acting in America’s national interest, he was acting for himself.... a photo op with a world figure he considers important, both for ego and domestic propaganda."

So deeply embarrassing for the United States. Trump legitimized Putin and his illegal war on the world stage and got absolutely nothing in return. Not even a single step toward peace. Everyone involved in this charade should be ashamed.
