Forums - Gaming - Recommend me some games with the simplest multiplayer gameplay

If you know of any simple multiplayer games that you and a friend have truly enjoyed, post it here. I’m trying to get a compilation going for if there’s ever a room of non gamers (like a family gathering) to have a reason to pick up and play.

I’m thinking along the lines of games like this:

Pong

Wii Play Tanks

Wii Play Hockey

So to be clear, it must be:

1. Pick-up-and-play. No thinking required

2. Specific game (if it’s within a compilation)

3. Addictively competitive or cooperative.

Please lmk your recommendations.

Why would I give you a fish when I could provide the atmosphere the enables you to learn how to fish if you are self-driven enough?

Games that I have found that inexperienced gamers respond well to:

1) Wii Sports
2) Mario Kart 8
3) New Super Mario Bros Wii (although I did have one person kind of not like it)
4) Puyo Puyo Tetris

Games that I thought would be good, but weren't:

1) Super Mario Party

Classic worms is always good for a laugh.

Some retro muliplayer games

Super Bomberman 2 (or Saturn Bomberman)

Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat

Worms

Dr. Mario

Combat

Scorched Earth

Those old flash games that were basically more about chatting with a stranger than playing the game. I vaguely remember one in particular that was kinda like playing pool on a backgammon board that was fairly popular for a while.
