TIL there's an LOTR anime feature on the way. Cool. Will be interesting seeing where this IP goes from here.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon gets it and uses it as their flagship series for their gaming sector push. Sony has gow, Nintendo had Zelda, MS has Halo, and Amazon could have LOTR. They probably plan to make a bunch of games, different styles, with the IP just like Nintendo does with Zelda and Mario.

-Nazgul racing simulator
-The Legend of Tom Bombadil
-Lord of the Rings: Total War
-Skryim-like first person game where you are the wizard, Radagast, and you must protect the forest animals from something dark.
-2.5d game where you play smeagol trying to get to the shire to steal Bilbo's ring.

The list goes on. They could really make entire franchises out of that one ip and push their subscriber count with it.

I could see Amazon’s game developer of New World taking advantage of the Lord of the Rings IP and really giving elder scrolls some competition.
