Yes. And You know what's worst? By the end of switch's lifecycle those games might end up being the most successful pokémon games ever.

Whilst it does look like Sword & Shield will overtake Gold & Silver, I doubt that they are going to surpass Red & Blue. Given past trends, I’d hazard a bet that Gen 9 releases on the Switch circa 2023/24 (as both the DS and 3DS saw two Gen release on them) and that will take the wind out of SwSh sales.

Y'all haven't played X/Y

X/Y was way better.

Fairy type added

Mega-evolution which was a huge strategical addition unlike that horrible and awful dynamax

Best online

All around better cities, world and routes.

X/Y has the ugliest cities and environments, Mega evolutions were at it's worst and so limited. The legendaries were also shitty and the most forgivable. THE WRITING was cringey as hell and for the first time made me not enjoy an adventure cause it was, even for a game aiming at children, so "power of friendshippy" that even probably them hated it. Literally the highlight for me is the missions post games that were a bit silly and the large amount of clothes. The enemy team my god. I guess if you play mostly for online it might have been better, but for me who don't really care about competitive it was an awful game.

Sword and Shield is actually one of my favorites. The single player campaign is the worst probably, but the quality of life changes to breeding, wild area, and such make it the easiest to get into the multiplayer. Was the first game since Black and White where I devoted any time to that, and I only did so in Black and White because I had no gaming systems available due to hurricane sandy.

It sounds like what you are looking for is called Pokémon Showdown.

Showdown is awesome, but there's something that feels different when it's a team you actually built vs just picking whatever you want on Showdown. Sort of like Goldilocks where I want building a team to take enough effort that it feels like mine, but not so much effort that I need to treat it as a part time job. Also, in Showdown you tend to see the same Pokemon most of the time since people make whatever they want at any time. And I like the visuals better in the actual games.

Unrelated, but I'm still baffled as to why Nintendo hasn't been able to get Showdown taken down.

Sword is the first Pokemon game I've ever played, and probably the last although the new one looks pretty good. I thought it was alright and I was glad I finally tried a Pokemon game out, but it didn't do much for me.

gen 8 was a much better game than gen 2 4 and maybe 6

dear me

I couldn't agree more

Sword/Shield is without any doubts the worst Pokémon game ever. I believe Pokémon games can't get worst than that

gen 2 and 4 are the slowest pace games in the series, bad pokemon designs, gen 4 has horrible rivals, both series have terrible gyms, etc etc. Pokemon sword does almost everything better except for post game which might honestly be better with the DLC expansion. If you disagree who cares you're wrong lmao
