No. Neither will the ps3.
i dont think the 360 will ever hit 50 million
i believe the playstation 3 will sell over 100 million lifetime, followed by wii 60-70 million
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
It's really down to MS , they can support it to around 50-60 mill even or they could jump ship to the XBOX 720 quickly and kill the 360 off.
yes 360 will sell 50m, not many more, but it will sell 50m

Even with low-balled numbers the X360 will most likely reach 50 million.
year | total | ||
2008 | 10 mill | 26 mill | it's already on track to sell 10 mill in 08 according to VGC. A US price drop will secure that |
2009 | 9 | 35 | mass market price ~$250 |
2010 | 8 | 43 | Xbox peaked at 6.5 mill in the year before X360 was launched. |
2011 | 6 | 49 | drop off year in anticipation of Xbox 3 launch in Nov '11. (Xbox had 3.8 mill in it's drop off year) |
2012 | 2 | 51 | over lapping sales into next generation. |
51 million is my minimum estimation.
I think 50 million for the Xbox 360 is pretty unlikely. 2008 is probably the 360's last good year, after that, sales will decrease. I think Xbox 360 will end up with just over 40 million units sold.

If u remember in late 2007, a lot of people said the same thing about 2008. The X360 would start struggling after having all it's high profile already released.
I don't think the market works that way.
Just freeze time for a moment and think - if the X360 is selling well right now - because it is - what will be so much different a year from now?
I mean, there is not a single peice of evidence pointing that X360 is slowing down. Don't get me wrong, 2008 might very well be it's peak year, but saying "360's last good year" suggests a drastic drop off and that there are strong arguments to back it up.
The 360 won't hit 50 million. It is in its 3rd year and didn't even pass 20 million yet.
I doubt that sales will double anytime soon and the Xbox360 won't sell more than 8 million units a year. Assuming that is true ( and I'm being generous) The 360 will hit 50 million in 3 1/2 years, 2012. By that time, the sales will not stay like they are now and will start trailing off anywhere (mid/late) in 09, if they are not slowing down behind the PS3 already. When I say trailing off, I mean:
I think the most the 360 will get is like 37- 42 million at the end of this "generation".
The PS3 probably won't hit 50 million either, and if it does, probably not by much more than 3 million, and that means it'll truly be following that "10-year" plan.
