Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Acquires Valkyrie Entertainment

Another new addition to the Playstation family! Mostly known as a support studio, Valkyrie Entertainment has worked on God of War, Halo: Infinite, Valorant, League of Legends, among many other games.

Sony Acquires God of War Ragnarok Co-Developer Valkyrie Entertainment - GameSpot

According to their website, they are co - developing several AAA projects, while working on two unannounced in house projects.

This is the type of acquisition I'm ok with, they're just getting more man power to help them with developing their first party line-ups and hopefully reducing the development time and the number of delays. Not buying a developer/publisher of known multiplatform games and locking them away.

This along with the PC porting house they bought are the type of acquisitions that make sense in my eyes.

I like to refer back to a statement Sony made during their earnings call about "adding $183 Million on development personnel and other in house costs over the fiscal year." With all their acquisitions this year, despite a rough estimate of 500 or so developers being added onto SIE, Playstation may not even be halfway to their target. Expect a handful of acquisitions to be announced by the end of March 2022.

That's what happens when Kratos defeats a Valkyrie.

Yes i agree that its a great buy (though i generally didnt have an issue with their prev buys either). We know about crunch issues and a lot of Sony games do get delayed regularly (though obviously that is preferable. So if this sees games releasing quicker, then all the better.
