This is actually a decent list, even though I don't agree with some of the choices. I'd remove GTA: San Andreas, God of War and Kotor from the list, and add: Deus Ex, NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer, and Kotor 2.

I'd also exchange Fallout 2 with Fallout 1, since the first game feels just right.

I never played Astro Boy, so I can't comment on it.

what, no love for stories? Anyway I just added the release dates and platforms of the games.

All I can say is: Where the hell is Kingdom Hearts?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

No Fire Emblem? I always thought Fire Emblem games had good stories...

I don't agree with Portal. All my gaming friends were talking about it to my non-gaming friends the other day, saying it's so great because it's a puzzle game but it has an awesome story as well.

Clever writing and a good atmosphere...but the plot's pretty simple...you're a test subject in a facility run by a crazy robot...you disobey its orders, kill it, and escape.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The writing, characerizations, atmosphere and believability are also part of the story. Having a simple plot doesn't mean it's not deserving of being called one of the best.

There is a typo. Portal (Xbox 360, PC, PS3, 2007) should be Kingdom Hearts II(Playstation 2, 2006)

Nope, it should be System Shock 2 (PC, 1999) or Baldur's Gate 2 (PC, 2001)

Like so many things in this world, story is really hard to fairly judge. What do you go by? The quantity of story? The quality? The consistency? The believability? The depth of focus? The presentation? All of the above in varying measure? There's so many categories you can gauge a story by, and I've never seen one that managed to score high in all categories.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

I really like Silent Hill 2... great story... and obviously MGS rules...
Portal was nice... but simple... at least it got me glued until I finish the game...

I don't Know about GTA San Andreas... it is long but kind of mehh...

Ahhh... Grim Fandago is really nice... is fun... and somehow conforting...

Yeap... this is Lavos...
