Forums - Gaming - Most overrated games!!!

Halo 2. 3 was somewhat of a return to form, but neither quite had the same degree of awesomeness upon release as the original.

Warcraft 3.

Every GTA after GTAIII.

No More Heroes. I just can't get into it. The hordes of men you have to kill before each boss battle gets very repetitive.

We've had this thread about ten times haha.

Final Fantasy VII of course, Metal Gear Solid 2, Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII and Gran Turismo.
Pretty much anything that's big on Playstation...
Also, Mario Sunshine, worst main Mario game ever (?).
All the Smash Bros. games, fun with lots of fan service, but overrated.
Lost Planet, ok game that sold like a great game.
DOA series, weakest major fighting franchise outside of Mortal Kombat.
Resistance and Uncharted, good games but they are overrated.
Perfect Dark series, Goldeneye was better.
Banjo Kazooie series.
Killer Instinct, makes Mortal Kombat look good.
Pretty much anything big from Rare, except Goldeneye, Viva Pinata, Kameo (rated accordingly).
I've got to disagree on Sunshine, mostly on the basis that lots of people don't actually seem to like it that much. How then is it overrated? You have to go back to SMB2 (or even SMB2j!) to find another main-series Mario game people think as little of.

Also, IMO the first Perfect Dark was the shit. It was definitely superior to Goldeneye.

No comment on the rest, except to say that apparently Killer Instinct isn't/wasn't a major fighting franchise?

If Sunshine is bad, then every other Mario game made is bad.

It's certainly a lot less linear than Galaxy, which is a good thing in my book.

Sunshine is quite underrated imo.  I'm not sure why so many people had problems with that game. I love it just as much as SM64 and SMG (possibly better than SMG).

Mario Sunshine was on the dreaded Game Cube that is the main reason it is overlooked. You can count on one hand the good games on the Game Cube.

Halo 2 and 3....like #1, but I felt like they were more of the same

One that I've never understood was Ape escape, I remember when tons of magazines were hyping the series the hell up so bad that I rented the first one on ps1.....can't say I was impressed...

If you have 15-20 fingers a hand you could I suppose. Even then I find it highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

And you left off quite a few - REmake, Baten Kaitos 1/2, among others.

It saddens me that I was only able to build up a collection of 6 games for my GC. There were so many I missed. :(

I played Morrowind and Oblivion and they were both over rated with their highly inflated review scores. The game play in both games was mediocre and boring especially in Oblivion when your character level ups the enemies get even harder to kill. Fallout 3 is apparently going to follow the Oblivion path and fans of Fallout games will avoid Fallout 3 like the plague.
