FF7 is a fantastic game during its age. if u played it now when RPGs had evolved and improved of course u think its overrated.
zzzz

I feel the same about OoT

I can't remember a game with better graphics, sound, history and Gameplay (z targeting Pff)... in 1998

It was like a LttP in 3D!!!

Lets see....

Halo 2 - never played 1 or 3, but this was a decent, but unspectacular game. Never understood what the hype was about. FPS is one of my favourite genres, but this just doesn't hold up well against games like Half Life 2 or Perfect Dark.

The GTA-series - Guess I am the only player who find these games just "mildly entertaining". Sandbox-games just isn't for me.

 The Sims

FEAR - repetetive and unspectacular in every way

This is just a list of well rated games I didn't like:

Half Life 2 - booooooorrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnggggggggggggg

Bioshock - I didn't find it that fun

Gears of War - It was fun, but not my type of game. Also a lack of weapons. the chainsaw was cool, and the explosive bow weapon, but there wasn't much variety.

Mass Effect - I stopped playing this game quicker than the XFL was cancelled! I couldn't get into the story.

Forza 2 - Wasn't even remotely as good as Gran Turismo.

Ratchet and Clank: TOD - I don't like Ratchet and Clank anymore.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - It was fun but too much button mashing, no strategy or skill required.

Umm... Er... Ah...

I ain't gonna touch that list. You have weird taste in video games.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Final Fantasy VII (My most overrated game of all time. The story was bad, the characters were worse, the game play was garbage, the music was subpar, and the graphics were awful outside of combat.)

Word of Warcraft (Its not a bad MMO but its not the great game people make it out to be. Way too oversimplified for my tastes and I don't care for the art style either.

Gran Turismo (After GT2 that is, Gran Turismo 1 and 2 were stellar ever game since has been a nicer looking rehash.)

Halo (The Halo series is actually pretty good but its not FPS to end all FPS games like its made out to be)

Madden (Madden hasn't been good in years. In fact, the series is at its best when it is up against a strong competitor. Unfortunately they have exclusive rights to the NFL and its players.)

 I second that

I'd have to say Final Fantasy VII and Zelda: OoT.. they stand out to me as the most overrated more than any others, I think.  FF7 was great and I liked it a lot when it came out, but no more than the older ones really.  Graphics and story have never stood out as overly important to me, so maybe that's why it didn't have as much of an impact.  With Zelda I was so used to the 2-d thing and having it be quicker and more action oriented, and I just never caught onto the whole 3-d and focus on exploring large environments and stuff.. just didn't seem as fun to me.

Of course, none of that matters really.. everyone finds different things fun and won't agree on stuff like that.  Truth is they weren't overrated, because a ton of people liked them.  Just because I personally didn't doesnt devalue their popularity any.. so maybe overrated isn't the right word to use.

(First post here, by the way!)

Ahh, thank you sir! FEAR was... underwhelming to say the least. The dev's should stop watching old Arnold movies and The Ring and try to think up a thing or two that's not been used in the exact same fashion 5 million times (slow motion is mostly corny but everyone sported it after Max Payne, which at least had some minor use of it).

Halo
Final Fantasy 7

Agree with op with Halo 2 that game was a load of bullocks. Halo 3 and Halo Combat Evolved were a lot more fun than Halo 2.

DMC 2, Tekken 2, Turok 2, MGS 2 along with Halo 2 all sucked the most in their series. Sequels live in the shadow of excellent originals.
