Hell yeah!!!
Well deserved. Now on to 8 million.

Looks like MHR is going to be the first 3rd party game to break 10m on the Switch.

Maybe Minecraft?

Only Japan surpassed 2M and other tracks all show up in a good position.

Meaning it is going on a steady rate of sales since it's launch months. That's pretty good, a bit better than I expected even !

you and Capcom, Capcom expectations was 6.6 M LTD for Switch only.

Wouldn't take much to convince me that Minecraft's over 10m but I'm not confident enough to make that proclamation myself.

Every company underestimates software sales on the Switch; even Nintendo.  But it's great that MHR sold so much because it's an actual title Nintendo can point to as an example of how much a well crafted game that isn't a late port afterthought can sell on the Switch.

Its almost July so hopefully more sales have happened.

while I agree that 3rd part developers shouldn't just see the Switch as a dumping ground for last gen ports, it must be pointed out that after Monster Hunter's move from PlayStation it became one of Nintendo's best selling 3rd party franchises to the point that even though its first tasted success elsewhere, Monster hunter and Nintendo pretty much became synonymous with each other, so we are talking about a franchise that sells great and is well loved by Nintendo gamers.

MH Worlds sales success mainly stemmed from it attracting a whole new western audience turning Monster Hunter from a top selling Japanese centric franchise into a major global Franchise and that profile lift aids The whole franchise regardless of platform.

so we had an already popular Nintendo 3rd party franchise debuting on the markets best selling platform that many if not most of its previous audience feel is it's rightful home aided by an overall increased profile and its development as an open world game aided by its predecessor.

i'm sure that if all those 3rd party titles that want to be successful on Switch make sure they strictly adhere to the criteria laid out above they can one day say to others we are following the example set and when we reach it we will let you know what it is  like to have the best selling 3rd party game on Switch 6 .
