https://www.polygon.com/2021/1/12/22226832/star-wars-jedi-fallen-order-next-gen-update-ps5-xbox-series-x

Looks like another free next gen patch has hit.  I missed out on this game myself, but since it is on gamepass I will probably give it a go after I finish Gears 5. The update includes the following console-specific upgrades:

Xbox Series S

Frame rate has been increased to 60 fps (up from 45 fps)

Xbox Series X Performance mode

Frame rate has been increased to 60 fps

Dynamic resolution added in the range of 1080p to 1440p

Xbox Series X Normal mode (non-performance mode)

Post-processing has been increased to 4K

Dynamic resolution in the range of 1512p to 2160p

PlayStation 5

Frame rate has been increased to 60 fps (up from 45 fps)

Post-processing increased to 1440p

Dynamic resolution has been disabled and the game is rendering at 1200p (up from 810-1080p)

Not really. It is just a BC upgrade.

That is pretty much any game that gets a next gen patch by definition TBH.  Even cross gen games like Valhalla perform similarly, where it is the exact same game with different settings and extra assets that get patched in.  This is why the disk for Valhalla can be used in an X1 or a XSX/S without the need for two different versions.

Series X seems to really excel at making the most of last gen updates. By far the best version is nice to see.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Here's a video with comparisons of Series S, Series X normal, Series X performance and PS5:

IMO, there's very little difference between the SX versions and PS5 even when viewed on my 4K TV. As a Series X owner, I'm definitely going with performance mode, as the frame rate is far more noticeable than the subtle visual improvements in the normal mode.

Kind of a meh upgrade tbh.

I agree, basically just a res bump and a boost in framerate.
