Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor- Square Enix considering selling off it's western division to Ubisoft after The Avengers disappointment

It would be better if they considered not making a shit game if they want it to sell well. But Square Enix have never been the brightest bulbs in the room so I'm not too surprised.

Seems very fake. If they wanted to sell those, why not to 1st parties? They seem to be desperate to get more studios. Plus, would Ubisoft even be able to buy it in the first place?

Why do assume they didn't try?

If true and they actually were gauging interest in their studios/IPs then it seems unlikely they'd only talk to a single publisher. They surely would have made enquiries elsewhere too, maybe Ubisoft are the only ones that showed a genuine interest.

Yeah defo can always trust 4Chan , but hey guys remember the time we got them rumors of Sony buying Zeni and then turned out it was true but really MS...

I don't even know what to think. It's hard to decided which one is worse, Square or Ubisoft. I guess there's no winning for those studios.

Assassin's Creed was bad for me until Black Flag (that game was one of the best games ever made for me), then returned to being mediocre until Origins. I've played Origins, Odyssey, and am now playing Valhalla and they are a ton of fun. Also, Mario Rabbids was one of the best games ever me for me as well, so they have two all time great games made in like the last decade for me. Square has Dragon Quest 11 as an utterly fantastic game for me, but I can't think of anything else. I say this to point out that just because a publisher has an overall bad quality output, that doesn't mean they can't make gems with the right team.

Well we had those 'Tomb raider is not selling enough copies' I prefer Ubisoft instead of others like Activision/Amazon or EA...

From the very big publishers Ubisoft is the only one that at least make games I'm interested in playing,

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Sounds good, better in the hands of an owner that makes good use of a dev.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
