Forums - Nintendo - My rant about Namco on their games on the Wii

Well Namco should at least port Soul Calibur III to the Wii, since II showed that series can sell well on Nintendo systems. And you can just use the Classic Controller and those Hori fighting sticks.
You can't make the game that way. The game would have to be compatible with the Wii-mote and nunchuck combo because not everyone owns a classic controller or Hori fighting stick. It could be combatible with a traditional controller but would need to use the basic controller setup in some way, which would absolutely fail in my mind, as Tekken, nor Soul Calibur would lend themselves well to motion control.

Who says motion control would be required? Smash Bros doesn't have motion control for any of its settins. SC would be like that. You'd use the Wiimote on its side if you don't have a better option. A, B, 1, and 2 would be the four buttons used. It would be awkward, but like Smash Bros, it would be very clear it's meant to be played with an actual gamepad or joystick.

Also, not everyone having the Classic Controller is not the same thing as too few owners to make hit games of those requiring it. That just applies to rarely used items. The Classic Controller is of a more general use than something like the Playstation Eye.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

"You hate on Namco for doing this, so perhaps you could give me an example of a "HD" game that's made it to the Wii alongside PS3 & X360. I'm not saying it has to retain "HD" graphics or all the content of the "HD" versions, it just needs to be released on the Wii along with the HD versions."

And since Wii fans ever care for graphics and it should be in HD? As long as there are multiplats and exclusives by 3rd parties heading for the Wii which they work hard for and give it quality(just like SW: Force Unleashed) we're happy. But I could give you an example that you dont need HD graphics for graphics to be good.

Look at how much detailed given to this game, dealy creatures. From seeing on screenshots alone, you could see that PS2 must maxed out its limit to achieve this.

Mushroom Men colorful graphics, good lighting and detailed creatures, THIS IS DONE even without great publishers and developers. I dont even know what Red Fly Studios is.

Godzilla Unleashed, even the gameplay is mediocre, the graphics was "outstanding". And what year this was released? 2007?

De blob, yeah, its not as good as the rest, but even with small budget a game can have decent graphics.

And thats when 3rd party developers arent even trying. Anyway, look at the conduit on how Wii can really do it can even compared to 360/ps3 games...

^ you missed my point entirely.

All I was trying to say was that very, very few games that are born as "HD" games for X360/PS3 make it to the Wii. That's it. Namco isn't doing something out of the ordinary here.

So wait, do you have some official specs for these games or something? Or do you just assume they can be done on the Wii from looking at a trailer?

And cmon, Tekken 6?!! Even if Namco was in love with the Wii, and had a bunch of million sellers on it (we're talking Sega love here) they still wouldn't release Tekken 6 on the Wii because the fanbase would be completely unfamiliar with it.

So if you're asking him for official specs on those games to back up his opinion, I assume you have official statistics on the console preference of every Tekken fan.

Hypocritical much?

Every Tekken game (except one on the GBA) has been on a Sony platform.

But that was a nice way to unnecessarily add in that jab at the end.

Tekken 6 on the Wii can help prove that much of the PS2 base has moved to the Wii.

"Like you know"

Namco is also making Sky Crawlers. A lot of people think it will suck because it's a movie tie-in, but it's also produced some screenshots that have turned heads.

Namco support for Wii is fine. Support from most Japanese devs is fine. These guys can't turn dev projects around on a dime, and they all thought PS3 would be a bigger deal than Wii.

To me that pretty good since the wii has only one released by a third party.

Japanese 3rd party companies have already released 3 RPGs that I know of.  Plus Final Fantasy is on Wiiware but that is more of a simulation game so I won't count that.

Capcom is not even releasing Street Fighter IV on the Wii (if it's possible)
so no Sould Calibur IV for the Wii is not that strange

''Hadouken!''

They said they could even release SFIV on the original gameboy, so a wii version is obviou.

@ameratsu------------> So do you mean that Soul Calibur IV was in development before the Wii became popular or even released? Because if the production time of SC IV was the same as time spent in SW: Force Unleashed Im more pissed because theres no excuse for Namco to not release SC IV simply because "its not HD".

So do you mean that a game cant be released because its not HD? thats not a good reason for a company not to release a game because "its not HD".

And people in Japan dont care about HD and thats a fighting game country they consider it as a sport as to korea on Starcraft...

you don't get what i'm trying to say. re-read my last post carefully to see what i'm really saying, it isn't what you're infering.
