Yep, for sure if buying the retail games street price Xbox games new wer 12 USD versus PS 60 USD for sure almost every single person in USA would have an Xbox. Even if the most incredible games were in PS5 they would at most buy a PS5 to play that one game, and only the most hardcore would do it.

you miss the point he doesnt have to buy games with gamepass so 60usd vs 0 usd

Sure thing, still that wasn't even brought to OP. And he even said he buy the games instead of using GP.

Argentina people and their swallowed pride.
There realy isn't anyway to say Series X or PS5 is better engineered, they just chose differerent routes. On the price itself it is odd that PS4 games are 5x more expensive new than Xbox (compared to the dolar exchange ratio how much is on each platform? And considering third parties decides their prices are them also 5x difference between the platforms?)
But well, enjoy your purchase.

Fifa 21 PS 4 - about 8000 on local currency https://listado.mercadolibre.com.ar/fifa-21-ps4#D[A:fifa%2021%20ps4]

Fifa 21 X1 - about 9500 on local currency https://listado.mercadolibre.com.ar/fifa-21-xbox#D[A:Fifa%2021%20xbox]

TLOU 2 - about 6000 on local currency https://listado.mercadolibre.com.ar/the-last-of-us-2#D[A:the%20last%20of%20us%202]

Gears 5 - about 3000 on local currency https://listado.mercadolibre.com.ar/gears-5-xbox#D[A:gears%205%20xbox]

I fail to see this 5x difference when comparing apples to apples. Are you talking about real prices or ilegal purchases? Because there are people that "sell 30 days rental" for PS4 games for 10% the price of the game and purchase of the game for 1/2 or 1/3 with shared accounts.

Cmon Don, if roles were reversed it wouldn’t even be a question. If you have stronger specs, in a casing 50% less in size, doesn’t require tools, and a user friendly memory slot, then it’s safe to say one is objectively better engineered.

Sure sales, not going to have this discussion with you.

Is this the case in Brazil? What do you think the reason is for the price disparity? Genuinely curious

Nope, the price for most games on Xbox and Playstation is quite the same (Switch was considerably higher due to not being officially launched here). The discrepancy that we do have is that Sony first party titles were about 20% cheaper than third party games usually (more like Sony held out lower exchange ratio for longer, example PS exclusive would launch for 200 BRL while most third party games were 250, then it was 250 for first party versus 300 for third... nowadays I think they are about the same), since I don't have a Xbox I can't tell you if MS also sell their first party for cheaper, but I know third parties on both system are priced about the same.

3 - and last Price. I really can´t understand why, but in my country (Argentina) games are usually 3 to 5 times more expensive on Sony Store. And the country is sinking, an average Salary is about 4 sony new games.

That's all you needed to say.  After that, I'd think anyone, even the most hardcore of hardcore Sony fanboys, would understand why you're moving to the Xbox brand next gen.

And when you go and check mercado livre store in argentina the games are priced about the same.

AC Valhalla on Xbox store in argentina. 3600 for standard (46.5 USD on today exchange ratio), 5500 gold (71USD), 7000 ultimate (90.5USD).

For PS it is 60 USD for standard, 100 for gold, 120 for ultimate (so about the same price as USA and I guess that is his issue that it use the international pricing instead of argentina very week currency)

So yes there is a difference in pricing but that isn't 3 to 5 times.

First, putting every people from a country in the same bag is offensive and doesn´t have anything with the post. You should respect people from other countries.

Second if you look at digital games on Xbox Argentina Store, you will see that now F1 2020 is 1000 AR$ and 60 USS on Sony Store.

60 USS is  arround 8400 AR$. That´s 8 times the difference.

Now If I want to get the next Dirt 5, same pricing. 8 times more expensive.

https://www.xbox.com/es-AR/games/all-games?xr=shellnav#

the next Call of Duty? 3000 on XBOX and 9800 AR$ on PS5

Gears 5 is 1749 AR$ And TLOU2 is on Sale at 40 USS. 5600p

So It varies between games but I would put the average between 3 and 5 times cheaper.

The price of the dolar is arround 80AR$ but then you have to pay 30% and then 35% more (Country killing Taxes). The unofficial dolar is arround 180 AR$ now.

So I guess for 1 PS game I can buy an average of 4 Games on XBOX. And that is without considering Game pass.

You were the one that highlighted your pride. So perhaps you shouldn't have brought it up as a reason to changing console or taking offense.

Different games retail for different prices and have different promotions from time to time. Just showed new games on mercado livre are retailed for near the same price, checked both exclusives and multiplats. Also Verified AC Valhalla as one example and the difference was about 20-30% not 5x. So perhaps it is that game prices drop significantly faster for Xbox One games (not sure if it will keep being like that for next gen).

Your real problem isn't sony pricing (since they are basically having the same price as the rest of the world) but the currency of Argentina. Do you know why the pricing is global? Because the consoles aren't region locked. So if launch the games were 5x or more cheaper on Xbox well people can purchase them on another country even more if they are very so discrepant. Don't know how strong is the restriction to purchase in Argentina being from a different country. But if I had a Xbox I certainly would take advantage of this. Unfortunately PS games aren't dirt cheap to buy no even in Venezuela.

Around the Network

Series X is actually only about 17% more powerful than PS5. Compare that to last gen where the launch version of XB1 was 28% less powerful than the PS4 for $100 more.

Fallout jumped the Shark with Fallout 76, and Elder Scrolls' mainline series has been MIA for 9 years now. Also, there's no guarantee that Bethesda games will be exclusive to Xbox/PC. Knowing MS' arrogant marketing they would have shouted it from the rooftops by now, if they planned on making Bethesda games permanent exclusives.

But since you live in Argentina I can't help but agree with you. Gamepass is just a better deal for you.

If the games someone likes to play are on gamepass it is a fantastic deal for anyone. But he said he likes to purchase his games. So it seems the advantage at least this gen is that games on Xbox store drop price much faster.

UPDATE: I said that games are Usually 3 to 5 times cheaper on XBOX in ARGENTINA (online digital Store), I just bought Forza Horizon 4 on the XBOX online store and instead of charging pesos to my credit card, they charged dolars, not only that , but the xbox support page is not working on my country, so the game was 1100AR$, now I´ll have to pay 14,35 USS. That means that I have to pay taxes on that. 30% more and then 35% more. That means that the final price would be arround 1930, Still cheap for a game here, arround 4 times cheaper than a new game on PS4. But usually there are less difference in games. If I calculate the presale of COD with taxes, then It would be closer to 6000 on xbox and 9800 on PS4. So If the credit card and bank applies those taxes , then the price of the games (new and old) will be arround 2 - 3 times cheaper on average, but not 3 to 5. I´ll see how it goes when they charge me next month.
