"Why do women wear an eyepatch in anime?"

Character designers, have to make their character stand out some way.
Thats probably all there is too it.

Cause it adds character in the same way a a scar does. Scars, eye patches face tattoos etc are just cool looking.

think its more than just "looks cool", its about makeing a character stand out from the crowd.
Too many anime women/girls look just to damn simular, so its a easy way to make your character reconisable.

Not something I have seem more than once or twice I guess. For male chars it is usually to buff and accumulate power (like in Bleach) or create disadvantages for himself so he can be stronger by removing it, etc of course there are also the eyeless or the like.
For women thought the only case I remember was mentioned with Kaede being blind since childhood.

It's a fetish thing. Girls with eye patches are cute!

It's also one of those things that you can only really pull off in anime though, like pink hair. Looks cute in anime form, looks weird in real life.

Why this prejudice against the disabled in real life?

I guess I'll share my favorite eyepatch character. This is Nice from Baccano. She injured herself in an explosives accident when she was young and lost her eye. She is a sweetie and I enjoy her.

huh, I never thought about that. Was only thinking about girls that wear one, despite not needing it, as an attempt to look "cute".

But I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't biased against disabled people when it comes to potential romantic partners so I guess I'm just prejudiced? I expect most people would be at least prejudiced against severe disabilities, if not minor ones, when it comes to dating though, that's just human nature.

Yep, I was just joking because I know you were only thinking about the aesthetic of eyecover in real life, and preferences aren't prejudices.
