Forums - Gaming - Microsoft Teases Sony For PS3 GTA IV Install Time

Doesn't really matter who takes the cheap shot at who. The fact of the matter is I'm going to buy the Xbox 360 version for the Xbox 360 achievements part. And since I have the Xbox 360 version, I mines well take advantage of the extra DLC they will be providing.

IMO, for this Xbox 360 GTA IV vs. PS3 GTA IV

Xbox 360 GTA IV, wins my vote for the following reasons: achievements (yes I'm a whore for those things), and the extra DLC.

PS3 GTA IV: ummmm, sorry Sony you have absolutely nothing other than trophies, whenever Playstation Home releases :)

I hate achievements, and achievement whores.

It's just a way to show off your e-penis.

I have 15000 Gamescore points!  Oh well, I have 15010 Gamescore points, so I'm better than you

Especially when they're not fair.

Ten minutes in avatar the last airbender will get you 1000 points.  Ten minutes in oblivion will get you none.  I've completed oblivion, and got the full 1000 which took me ~100 hours.

How long to beat TMNT and get the full 1000, or X-Men, or Spongebob, or Cars, or Ice Age, or any other crap game?

For the record, my gamescore is 3500 or something close to that.

Well, I have to admit that the whole logic behind console games having install times really chaps my hide. No installing of anything is one of the major benefits to console gaming vs pc's.

Granted if it were a mere minute or two, then no biggie. But, when you start to get to the 10min mark, you have really out done yourself.

-1 for Sony in my view for the many games lately with installs.

I agree... one of the bests thing about consoles is that you can just pic any game out of your collection at any time, pop it in and play... once you have to install and uninstall games that feeling is gone... it´s no biggie but still the Wii and 360 have that as an advantage over the PS3 IMO

Install times suck. We all know.

But unless you plan on deleting the 1 or 2 gigs of data that gets installed on it after every time you play it, you can still pop it in and play.

I too think that all this install BS should stop, but many people obviously don't really care. Take a look at DMC4 sales, which have sold better on the 22-minute-installing PS3 version rather than the Pop-in-and-play 360 version. The only people who don't like installs are people who are looking for a reason to not like the PS3 for whatever reason, it's really not that big of a deal, as the sales show us.

The only reason PS3 version has outsold the 360 version by a measely 130k is due to Japan where it outsold the 360's version by about 240k. If you take out the extremely biased Japan 360 version sold better.

Nearly every multi-platform game out has been heavily in 360's favor. I don't think this one game is a good indicator of install time difference in sales.

So Japan doesn't matter?

We should just exclude PS3 games that sell better because the regions are biased?

Most 360 games sell better because of American sales, and occasionally multi-platform games in Others favor the 360, but otherwise, their strength is in NA. I hate to say this, but cherry picking galore.

Yeah I don't get the reason for the gamer tags to show off your score but i do like how you can use it in the marketplace.

Fighnight Round 3 is the easiest points to get. I had a friend who just rent easy ass games to raise his score... blah.

What Montana said.

Also, look at install bases.

PS3 is 6 mil less than 360. If install times were so important, it should have blown PS3 out of the water.

MS are really hoping gta4 pulls for them. Too bad gta4 and their extra content will be their last :P Well in the 5 min install ps3 can read the booklet, make some food, get a drink, go to the toilet and get comfy - for a better drive than the 360 will ever have.

Like Kojima said - ps3 is the theater - I know have to wait 5 min to get my candy-bar treats :D

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

OH come on guys it's a big corporation thats showing it can have a sense of humour.
Give it a rest.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Yeah so when the bully of the School points and laughs at a kid for being "weaker" thats having a sense of humor...

Man you live and die by MS' words.

They should be making fun of themselves or compare this to a weaker point of theirs. This is an obvious attempt of belittling the competition.

Are we living in a time where anyone would actually complain about a 5 minute install?

It wouldn't be so bad if the list of things to do weren't blatant advertisements for the 360 version of the game.

I hope MS burns in hell for a little slight like this. Man, it's just TRYING to piss off and provoke the competition for no reason except to get their names in the news. Smug cloud forming. I could care less about PS3 vs 360, I'm a Wii man, and I own a PS3 so I guess I'm biased, but this got my goat.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
