Well butter us up and call us biscuits, because the PS3 is on a roll. Forgive us; we're hungry. IGN hosted a poll recently that had very simple terms: which console should win the current-gen race? Between the PS3's smaller install base than the competition and its still fairly sparse selection of games (they sputter out slower than ketchup from a glass bottle), we would never have anticipated the poll to swing so wildly in favor of the PS3.

Yep -- the PS3 has been declared the winner of IGN's poll. According to savvy websurfers, the PlayStation 3 should win the console race. Since we're biased, we guess it's a moot point for us to say we agree.

Just thought this was post-worthy.

What do you guys think? Should the PS3 win?

1,000,000 people voted! This is impressive in itself, but it would be interesting to see what people consider "deserve to win the console race" to mean, some might just put down what console they are planning to get in the future, though I am sure most meant that that console deserves to sell the most

Whenever I see online polls that get votes in the hundreds of thousands I really start to doubt how accurate the poll is ...

1,000,000 votes makes me wonder how many of those votes were from a dedicated group of people who will vote multiple times, and how many were from someone who wrote a bot to auto vote.

the online community of gamers are only a fraction of the gaming industry, so i wouldn't trust gaming polls.

completely off topic, but is online gaming really that great? i mean take xbox live, has over 10 million subscribers, yet it's currently moving the least amount of consoles, the wii has the worst online service and it shifts hardware at record breaking pace.
