Forums - Gaming - Lair patch impressions.

Ok so I rented lair in hopes it would give me a couple hours of fun. Believe it or not it did. The added analog controls make the game playable and its actually very fun. Ive heard complaints of the graphics such as tearing but I never had any of that happen. Speaking of grapics they are amazing. There is so much is so much detail, so many things happening all at once on screen, and the levels are pretty big as well. If you were interested in lair and have a ps3, download the patch and give it a go. You wont regret it.

I'll rent it too, I have wanted to try this game for a while, the analogue controls will help

I bought Lair a couple weeks ago after finding out months ago that a patch was in the works for the controls. Having given it a shot, I really enjoyed the SIXAXIS controls and didn't experience any of the problems people had been bitching about. Now that the patch is out, I gave the analog controls a try and I must say it's made the experience a whole lot easier. More enjoyable? I wouldn't necessarily say that, but it's definitely more accessible to people too afraid to stray away from traditional flight-sim conventions. Definitely an enjoyable game that I suggest renting and eventually buying, even if you wait for it to become a $30 budget title. (Lair promotional comment #38,926 and counting - an exaggeration, but I promote this game any chance I get and is relevant :P)

All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.

So, i got the patch too. You must know me by now as a big hater of Lair.

This patch just made me realize how controls were not the only broken thing.

So there i go to the level i never had the patience to finish, watching that same unskipable cutscene by the fifth time i guess, but still very gorgeous.

Then i am into action, controls are way way better this way. I get down and start tearing enemy troops.

Then in the middle of the damn thing a damn unskipable cutscene gets in my way... "Yeah, good job, Ron!" or something like that, with 30 troops left to kill...

Then they point out that i gotta take out some rhynos, so i follow the arrow that should point me to the objective. No matter how much i look i can't find these rhinos since the arrow will almost lead me to somewhere out of the action.

Then another cursed cutscene, "The asylian navy, we are done for!", there i go take out the damned ships, what remembered me how bad the lock-on is and how easy it makes killing at the same time, just lock on and spam fire, he will do the weirdest thing possible with your camera but at least will kill.

In the meantime, while i blast ships i get the damned cutscenes "take out teh rhynos", "oh sh*t warbeasts" and after thinking i got all the boats i go back to follow the arrow, that again just throws me far away from the real thing.

When i manage to find the warbeasts, i do the lockon and blast the people above it, with incredible ease, then i try to lock on on the legs and take it down.

After throwing three soldiers, i finally get to lock on the warbeast and take it down, and still the cutscenes complaining, do i have to do everything here?

Then, i can't believe, i found the rhynos, same problem of the warbeasts but i take them down, and the cutscenes keep complaining about ships i left and about how there are more rhynos somewhere.

Then take the damn thing off and next thing i know i am enjoying some TF2.

Only thing that will take me back are home trophies, so people can come into my house and see the dragons and say: Look, this dumbass bought Lair.

Yeah maybe i'm not touching it then...

Yeah that's it, but i don't remember the number. I remember the starting cutscene though...

You and the son of general something are riding in a dragon and he says he should kill you because you are an asylian, then his dragon shows up and he jumps on it...

Flow -"The important is to pwn other ppl"

Yeah thats the mission I stop at too. I didnt mind the game as much as you though. The unskipable cut scenes in the middle of battle i think was the worst about the game

hmmm.... I think I might rent it.
