That’s because 7 wasn’t really a remaster, just a port of the pc port.  Seven also has not aged very well graphics wise.  A lot of the people that are annoyed at the remake have a lot of nostalgia attached to the original, which is why your views make a lot of sense.

Well VIII isn't similar case? I know that I can ignore IX on this because I love it since PS1. But VIII was the enhanced port similar to VII right? And I still liked it more than VII. But sure I not liking the original VII makes me not be annoyed by the changes of the remake.

8 was quite a bite more enhanced then 7.  On 7 they just enhanced the resolution a tad, where the 8 and 9 ports actually had redone character models and such.  Also, it’s graphics in general aged a bit better anyway.  7 was basically LEGO characters, where 8 and 9 did a better job of having actual characters.

The first time I played 9 I thought graphics couldn't get better and even today without the improvements I still find it pretty while 7 even on the enhanced I can't stop thinking it is ugly. And perhaps I played to little (stopped after leaving Midgard) so maybe the story up until that moment wasn't as good and the level up system wasn't much of my liking as well.

Yeah, you basically just played the prologue.  It does open up and get much better.  However, like you said, the graphics have not aged well at all.  People loved the game and the story but hated the graphics as it aged which is why everybody was clamoring for square to remake it...they could have just updated the graphics and added in some voice acting and it wouldn’t have been nearly as controversial...

I am sure they will end up making more money this way though... especially with it being split into multiple  parts... I would have loved and updated version like I described though... oh wells...

I can say that I liked FFVIIR and now I would mind if FFIX was remade the same way. But yep I wouldn't mind if they just upped the graphics while keeping gameplay and story the same.

I think that for VIII and IX they may do a simpler remake with the graphics not being top notch (well, even if SE tries to make their games the prettier they can for the numbered FFs), but for VII that is their most iconic game I would expect them to not make it the most incredible they could think even if by transforming a 5h section in 30h.

IX doesn't really need a remake. Only thing I would change is the card game.
Xenogears needs a remake but I only want it if they license it out to Monolith. It was Taks baby and I want him to finish disc 2.

I agree it doesn't need since it is still great, but I would love to play it with current gen graphics. And I actually like the card game.

Played the demo for trials, wasn't a fan.
Played the demo for ff7, I enjoyed it. But damn they fucked the story up massively from what I've seen. I'll probably play it all at some point but my expectations are low.
Just finished xenoblade a few days ago. I highly enjoyed it. Great rpg. It does show it's age a bit in places and does suffer a little from pacing issues and grinding can be annoying in the late game but overall very good. I havent gotten around to the added content yet.

How do you feel about Kingdom Hearts? That will determine if you like or dislike FFVIIR's new story. It's Kingdom Hearts.

No it doesn't.  Get out of here with that. Amazing character developement and narrative.  The ending was the only thing that might be jarring, but that's like less than 5% of the game.

And the end being bad or not basically depend on what the next game bring us.
