Look at this way; 70% of Switch owners have a PS4 or Xbox One, at least in the US, probably similar numbers in Europe and ROTW.
Switch install base is probably going to be over 75 million by the end of this FY and easily over 100 million lifetime. A large portion of that install base will end up getting a PS5 or an XSX.
Do MS want to just sit by and let Sony secure the majority of that base, or are they going to steer Switch owners towards Xbox by getting them into Halo, Forza, Gears, etc?
