Was a very funny rumor, they just decided to use the rumor of big announcement to make anything out of it.

Aw nuts. It is E3 season after all rumours get crazy. That said I don’t think they they have anything that can rile up the industry. They simply don’t have the capital to do anything revolutionary on their own.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Have they given a date for the reveal yet?

My bet is this will be "big" by Sega standards, but not necessarily something that will shake up the whole industry.  Maybe a Saturn or Dreamcast mini?  Maybe something just a little bigger?  Nothing as huge as coming back into the hardware side again.

June 4 Tokyo time, probably June 3rd Pacific time if we converse the time zone

The funniest part of this thread is people saying MS would fund a lot of defunct IPs from Sega while forgetting they haven't done that even for several of their own IPs.

This is dumb and desperate. Why not just try to get Nintendo more appeal in the west by naming it Atari? SEGA has not made a console in 20 years. An entire generation grew up without them. Nothing says SEGA console-like Halo as a launch title that is also on Xbox One. So this just sounds stupid.

I get what you are saying, but that's a bad analogy.  Nintendo already has more appeal in the West than Atari and has for quite some time.  But ironically, back in 1983 when Nintendo was looking to expand the Famicom's footprint outside of Japan, they did indeed seek a deal with Atari:

Nintendo was seeking Atari’s partnership in distributing the new Nintendo Famicom system, which would become known as the Nintendo Entertainment System outside of Japan. In 1983 Nintendo was still mostly unknown in North America, and it was Atari who was the household name synonymous with video games. Nintendo lacked the confidence to go it alone and was looking to leverage the Atari brand name to distribute Nintendo’s new game system throughout the world.   Nintendo had little name recognition outside of Japan, and sought a partner with strong inroads in retail distribution channels to help sell the Famicom in the U.S. and worldwide.

Thanks.

Sounds like this week is going to have several big reveals.  (This + Sony)  It may end up being that all of June has big reveals, a lot like E3, but a bit less concentrated.

I’m betting nothing is really going to “rile up the industry”. It’ll be something that’s going to have us be like “that’s it”? This’ll end in disappointment.

I mean it should really just be taken as Sega is going to announce something unexpected and significant for them. Thats my expectation.

Yep a lot of hype for rumor and ends up being Virtua Fighter 6.
