You're assertion MS won't do anything with the newly acquired studios is simply wrong. These new studios wouldn't be snagging up talented devs from all over if they weren't going to do anything. Playgrounds new RPG is rumored to be shown this year, along with The Initiatives new game, Everwild from Rare, Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory. Obsidian is hard at work on a new AAA RPG, Outer Worlds 2, and Grounded. Inxile is working on a large scale RPG, along with everything else. Don't worry though, come July when MS has their showcase of 1st party games, you'll see a bunch of stuff they have been working on. Using Banjo, a game not even originally an xbox game, as their apex of games, it just strange. Halo and Gears are just as impactful. Sea of Thieves has turned into one of Rares most successful games.

Basing everything off of mistakes Xbox made in the past, doesn't change what MS has accomplished the last couple years to really make some headway into next generation.

All those bolded games being hyped up remind me so much of the Vita's 1st party lineup being hyped up. Games I had never heard of, games from studios without much of a good track record. Games that would also be available on another platform (PS4 in Vita's case, PC in XB2's case). I remember arguing with Sony hardcores over whether or not Vita would have a lineup to compete with 3DS. They continually grasped at straws, pinning their hopes on the most unknown, unproven studios. Here we see the same thing. History repeats itself I guess.

I hear ya, but I wouldn’t call Ninja Theory, Obsidian, and Playground unproven studios. They all produce some of the most critically acclaimed games in the last decade. So it’s not all hopes and dreams.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

So ps5 will decrease and MS will nearly double and you still say both will increase?

There will be more owners of both consoles at once - Xbox and PS5 - because this time MS will have more good exclusive games.

Then you might want to revise your prediction. As you have the ps5 selling less than the ps4.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

For thouse holding on to halo as the saving grace come November. Just remember that halo has been poorly received with each iteration after bungie left while pretty much all of sonys first party studios have been releasing ever better received games. On what are you guys basing that halo will have no equal when neither company has had their show yet? Or is waiting only efective while it's beneficial for MS?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

It’s a new engine that streamlines development, 5 years in the making (instead of 3), all ready proven to learn about classic art styles, split screen, and Halo Reach armor unlock systems. Call us Halo fans cautiously optimistic.

Real talk here, the only game that could touch Halo Infinite is LOU2, but that’s releasing soon and this won’t help much come November (by that I mean the hype will have worn off).  Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman 2, GOW 2 are all possible, but do you think they can be ready by this November? Maybe Horizon 2, MAYBE given it released in 2017 compared to the rest in 2018. But even then it’s a single player game up against a single player/multiplayer double threat.

Historically PS doesn’t launch with their best. Who still talks about Resistance and Killzone Shadowfall these days when reminiscing about old PS classics?

I was going to write up another reply to Rol and Sales person, but I realized...their revisionist history is at odds with reality and no amount of arguing is going to make them concede the point. I don't expect them to agree with me, but If we're not even adhering to the same flow of time and see history from a completely different perspective than what is real, then there's no way this can be a fruitful discussion.

Rol, your assertion that 'exclusives' are the least important of the factors you listed is just so wrong I don't even know where to start.

(...)

Start with Japan because that's the country we have the most reliable sales data for. The PS4 will have sold roughly 10m more units than the XB1 once it's all said and done; how much of a role did Sony's first party games play in that?

Then you move on to the USA and answer why the XB1 sold close to PS4 numbers despite Microsoft's anemic first party lineup for most of the generation.

I feel like that proves her point a bit more. For the past 18 years, MS showed that XB would never cater to Japan, while they show decent proficiency with American tastes. And when people talk about exclusives, they don't talk about just first party games, they talk about brilliant 2nd and 3rd party exclusives like Bloodborne, Nier Automata, DQXI (for a time), Persona 5, etc. as well.

In the US, XB1 does have decent first party to match their tastes like Gears of War and Halo 5

MS deffo tried catering towards the japanese gamers but got ignored

edit: removed my earlier statement

are you high? MS deffo tried catering towards the japanese gamers but got ignored

Absolutely not. They might have had a push for 2-3 years, and guess what sales were better during those years. But consistency is needed.

So how does that count as never catering towards?
