I pay £1.17.1 for diesel at the moment.

Ouchie... Even worse than here.
In Norway the government tricked everyone into buying diesel cars since 1995 and now they're starting to crank up the taxes and emission fees on diesel cars and are gonna increase the cost of diesel by nearly 20% in one year...
Just for fun; in Norway approximately 73% of privately owned cars are diesel and 98% of company owned cars are diesel and we're the North European country that depends the most on truck freight for goods and wares.
Talk about public Surprise Buttsecks...

Same here, out of approx 12.8 NOK for one litre, a little over 11 NOK goes to the government... Ridiculous, and car prices are unbelievable as well. Twice that of any other country in the world as far as I know.

here in the U.S. of A in New York, It's about $3.45/gallon (which would work out to about GBP 0.43/liter) and are forecast to hit $4.20/gallon by summer. ($110/barrel oil....good times.)

The Norwegian government has an oil fund worth 2350 billion NOK now but they still bleed us with gas prices and our roads are by far the worst of any industrialized nation in the world (don't believe me? come try them... )
