Forums - Gaming Discussion - Saturn Video Options?

It seems to be "common knowledge" around the web that the RBG output of the Saturn was not as sharp as other Sega consoles - or so I had been told on several occasions. As a result (it's claimed), using the HD Retrovision adapter with the Saturn would end up being somewhat underwhelming. What I found was that the HD Retrovision solution offers a huge improvement over RCA composite - even if it's not quite the leap that the Genesis gets.

Have a look:
I've since had several others report that they felt the "web consensus" on this was a bit of nonsense as well. What are some other "common knowledge" claims floating around the gaming-web that you think are a load of rubbish?

Thanks, Man. I love doing these. They take forever, but I find myself working on them even when it's supposed to be a weekend "off".

I didn't know Saturn games were that pricey. I got like 5-8 games about 15 years ago when I got a Saturn that was found in house that my dad was flipping. Don't think I spent more than 70 or 80 on titles like Fighters Megamix, Daytona, Nights and a few others.

Well that system broke and I actually mailed off the games to another user here mikeintellivison. I believe he sent me a 15 or 20 dollar check to cover the shipment. I figured might as well help someone's else collection out because I didn't have plans buying Saturn anytime soon. I still have a few controllers and arcade stick for it lol.

Yeah, prices have gotten fairly insane. Check eBay for titles like Panzer Dragoon Saga or Magic Knight Rayearth to see what I mean. Even PlayStation ports like Resident Evil, Megaman X4, etc. are MUCH pricier on the Saturn.

I wouldn't doubt the price on some of those gems but low numbers sold titles.  One thing I know about Saturn is that it supposedly has a ton of great 2D fighters.  I guess it did really good 2D compared to other systems at the time if you knew how to program on it.   That was another known thing about Saturn that it was more difficult to program compared to PS1 or even N64.

Saturn games cost almost as much as N64 games back in the day as well. They have never been that cheap unless you import.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I personally use scart for all my classic consoles.  Looks fantastic, too.  I wouldn't consider switching from anything else, considering the cost it would take to move over, wouldn't be worth it.  However, the only problem I do have is that my converter stretches the screen so it's not 4:3.

Have two Wii Us and plenty of games...  Too bad a Fire Emblem was never released for it because it would be worth same as GC one.
