Forums - Gaming - Okami - PS2 VS Wii - Graphical Comparison

I will probably pick this game up eventually. The Wii version looks better... maybe I'll finally understand Morgan Web's fangirlish obsession with this game...

I think it's a smart change. It's obviously by design. With games like Zelda, Mario, MP, it's obvious that the Nintendo audience likes vibrant colors, so give them what they want.

I think they both look equally good. It's just a matter of art direction.

I still wonder if it would be wise for Capcom to try and pursue an Okami 2 after Clover being disbanded by them.

The problem isn't should they, they problem is can they. This game is so unique, that if you lose the creative team that made it in the first place, it's virtually impossible to duplicate the experience in a sequel.

I not quite sure which version of graphics I prefer. 480p and 16:9 is nice. But I would only base my purchase upon gameplay, and it appears the Wii version of Okami has the upper hand in that department.

The colours on the Wii are sharper.

I highly recommend this game for the Wii. Definitly a step up from the PS2 installment though controls will always be a matter of preference.

I'm glad to see you've come around on the controls being "a matter of preference."

Well, yeah, but the artistic direction of the game is lost.  It's not supposed to be sharp.  I much prefer the rice paper effect and wish they left the option in at least.  Most Wii games use bright colors (1 exception being the brown of MP3), but not every game has to blind you with colors.  I like the subdued look.

To me, it's like looking at a Dynamic versus Standard tv setting, where the Dynamic sticks out more in a electronics store but loses the subtlety of the image.   But clearly, many disagree with me.

Regardless of which you prefer, you should play this game!

I was never against the notion to begin with.

I prefer the PS2 version
