I can't remember the last time I've seen a video game out of stock. Yakuza out of stock on Amazon.

That's some really bad news. Getting this game from Amazon was my backup plan if my local retailers won't even have Xbox version at all (which is very very possible that it might happen).

Bloomberg: Japan has been sidelined in Sony's PS5 marketing plans; Microsoft seeking acquisitions in Japan

Japan-based developer support teams have been reduced by as much as a third from their peak, and the rolling contracts of a number of game creators at PlayStation’s Japan Studio, one of the unit’s oldest in-house software ateliers, haven’t been renewed, former employees said. The U.S. office believes the PlayStation business doesn’t need games that only do well in Japan, employees in the California headquarters said.

On top of that, there’s evidence Microsoft is seeking to make acquisitions in the country, though it hasn’t yet landed a deal with a big name there. Several Japan-based game developers, from small to big, said it had approached them about buying their businesses. They asked not to be identified as the talks were private, and declined to give details on how the discussions went.

Not surprising given the direction Sony (Playstation) is heading (even more US-centric company than Microsoft nowadays). SEGA should probably be up for sale anytime soon and it is rumored to be considered by both Sony and MS.

I remember a lot of concern of Sony becoming a western company, looks true. And a perfect time for MS to scoop up JP talent. I was hoping for a Japanese studio now it looks like there might be more than 1 (excluding tango). Exciting news. I’d like MS to make a team from the ground up in Japan.

Yeah, this would be great. Buying one is not gonna be easy guess because of Japanese laws. Better build one from ground up.

Looking at my Xbox Store from TrueAchievements it seems like I'll have to buy Black Ops Cold War and make it the first game to play on Series X to let tradition continue.

Sega Sammy posted some losses. Seems they might actually be up for a takeover.

Also, we already knew PlayStation was turned into an American company. Sony's based in Japan, but PlayStation is about as Japanese as Columbia Pictures now.
