Unfortunately, if Sony has a lot of marketing deals today while MS has nothing like this in the works, it would be way too late already.

For JP games most likely you are right, most of the rumors suggest that the moneyhats Sony will announce today are JP games, which means Sony already has the whole gen on lock in Japan. But moneyhatting JP games would always be more expensive for MS than it is for Sony, since those games sell so well on PS by default, you have to compensate a JP publisher for all those missed PS sales, so JP moneyhats were never likely to happen for MS. MS can take the fight to Sony in a different way though, and steal western marketshare by making AAA western 3rd party moneyhat deals in the future, they might even have time to make some of those deals happen before their July show, if they act fast enough. But they have to act, Phil can't allow Sony to walk right over him for another whole gen.

I know I've already said this before, but I'm gonna be really surprised if MS secures and exclusivity deal for Japanese game in the near future. It's just not possible given their current position on the market. As I've mentioned above, even FF games sell 5 times better on PS than on Xbox. Also, for most Japanese games around 30-40% of their total sales are still made from Japan. The country where Xbox doesn't have any presence at all and the country which is very important to developers itself. They won't be willing to throw away that 85% sales and make a deal which will lock out their country from experiencing their game. It's just insane.

I'm not so sure, but I have a feeling MS is cooking up something for next week. Seems like they want to counter Sony's conference with something,

Even though this point is beaten to death, scrapping Scalebound really didn't help. When you're already struggling to gain not just consumer interest in a region, but also keep relationships with devs from that region, scrapping a big project from one of the best studios in current times doesn't help. And different to something like Fable Legends, there was a lot of fan interest for Scalebound.

Hell, if they don't have much else, why not at least let Platinum finish that off? They're still interested apparently. Maybe it'd help against the narrative that Microsoft just kills off projects, studios, and lets IPs die. There must be enough work already done, that they could spend a year or two finishing along with trying to beautify it for next-gen.

Nice to see verification from an insider that the rumors about Halo Infinite having separate current and next-gen builds are true. That pretty much confirms that the first 2 trailers were the XB1 X version, which means we'll see a pretty big graphical leap on the XSX version. Hopefully alot of Microsoft's 1st/2nd party cross-gen games have their last gen versions developed separately so as not to hold back XSX.

Wow. While I'm still skeptical if 343 can deliver in terms of the original Halo feel and quality, the visuals and scope from those trailers (I've literally been watching the Digital Foundry analysis of them while we speak) were already amazing. If they have something that's a leap beyond that, I find it hard to even imagine.

Hard to disagree. Cancelling Scalebound is probably the biggest mistake of the gen from MS. Even if the game turned out to be average, it was still worth it continuing investing in it. It was not about having an exclusive game from Japan but about strenghtening ties with Japanese devs.

Not necessarily. Publishers pretty much always want to show their games in the best light possible during these presentations, so it's not exactly unlikely that what we've seen of Halo Infinite (which isn't much to begin with) was captured on a PC build that would allow them to have the game running at the highest settings they expect to be able to hit when the game launches. Tbh, I would be more than a bit surprised if MS and 343 had the restraint to hold back on showing the game in it's full visual splendor up until this point.

Given their push for 4k60 across the board in their first party titles, and the expectation that Halo Infinite will be a game of impressive scope, I am personally expecting that what we've seen is inline with what the game will look like on Series X. I'd be more than happy to be wrong about this, of course, but I'm not inclined to set myself up for disappointment on this.

Scalebound making a comeback and getting re-announced at Microsoft's event in July would be a big OMG! That and Fable saying "Hi, yes we are not dead." Microsoft has a ton of IPs they SHOULD be using. Banjo remakes of the first two games, new Perfect Dark, Fable, Crimson Skies, Blinx, MechAssault (?), and MANY more.

Dead giveaway for a troll post. Almost had me going.

Fuck me this gets me pumped up im very very very curious how it will look

The thing is that this verified insider is suggesting that he just recently saw new Halo Infinite gameplay, and he says it was super impressive and looks properly next-gen. Those other 2 trailers have been out for 1 and 2 years now, which means he was seeing something new rather than one of those old trailers, which means what he saw is better looking than those trailers. That does seem to suggest that those earlier trailers were in line with what we should expect on XB1 (at probably 900p) and XB1 X (at probably 1600p or so). Of course this insider could be making up stuff of course.

Maybe. Or maybe he just saw some really cool new environments, or seeing the full game in action, with maybe a shitload of things happening on screen was what impressed him visually. Again...perfectly happy to be wrong, and find out there's a version of Halo Infinite far more visually impressive than the one we've seen so far, but I'm choosing not to take that assumption for granted.

Good to know someone read my entire post. I threw in Blinx as a joke. I could have also thrown in Brute Force or Blood Wake. Some classic OG Xbox games right there. For me when it comes to MS IPs we haven't seen a new release in years I'd want Fable above everything else, followed by Crimson Skies, Perfect Dark and Banjo.

Ah Brute Force. I only ever played that on an Xbox demo disc, but I remember when first playing Mass Effect and thinking, "didn't I play something like this on a demo disc once?" Good times.
